I heard you used to make your groundie climb up and bring the saw to you.

You make it sound like it's a bad thing? How else are they going to get a bit of aerial rescue practice unless its time for a smoke break(never take your cigs up a tree they get crushed)?

I regards to the question about pre tying it on, I can see the point for srt but not for ddrt.

Come on, we are not only talking about 10 seconds of someone's working day we are also taking about someone get pissed off because they don't want to do their job.

I hope they bloody well jog back from the chipper too.

I've had too many days climbing to ever let my fags out of my direct control by leaving them on the ground. You only realise later that the groundsman (who is always skint on monday morning and smoking roll-ups, has been wandering around all morning with taylor mades) in his gob and has smoked em while categorically denying any knowledge of their present whereabouts.

You know the one, the one who coppers up to nip to the cafe for a cup of tea, then returns with a mega breakfast and forgets the change from your tenner for your bottle of water. 9_9

Climbers who seem to think its a massive hardship to climb a tree with a chainsaw and insist on having it tied on once they get to the top.  This seems to be a newbie thing, or a company specific thing.  I'm all for making things easier for my climber but does strapping a small saw on his waist as he climbs really cause too much inconvenience?  Then they get to the top and everything both top and bottom has to grind to a halt while he the groundies work is interupted to tie his saw on, then the climber hauls it up.  Might be being a bit pedantic, but its a completely unnecessary pause in the work flow.

i wouldnt hold out much hope of an aerial rescue from you then, if tying a saw on a rope when needed is a bit too much of a chore!!! ;)

So you don’t think that youngsta’s have  a problem about staying ‘connected’, appropriate times for phone use and generally getting their shit together to get to work prepared for the work that they get paid to do?

Not tarring everyone with with the same brush, I’ve worked with some great groundsman over the years, at a lot of different jobs in the public and private sector but there seems to be an increasing sense of entitlement in the younger generation to confounds me.

Anyway, It’s probably a symptom of getting older:001_rolleyes:
