Big saws on the market

Am looking for recommendation on what is the best big saw on the market.

 

The three I’m looking at are the Husqvarna 3120XP / Stihl MS 661 C-M and the Stihl MS 880.

 

I’m currently running Husq ground saws.

What would you use it for?
Cross cutting or milling?
What size wood you going to cut?

My preference is stihl 661 for under 3 foot, or stihl 880 for over.

I got Husky 395 great saw does anything big enough for me

I have had both 3120 and 395 . I much prefer the 395 . I know its not in your list but its my big saw of choice .

I've got a 3120 for sale £500 plus postage.

from 1994 used it for twenty trees or so.

I left for Germany in the same year.

We faced the same choice and although most of our saws are husky’s we opted for the 880 on a 30” bar. If you are doing domestic work in this country most large diameter timber is likely to be hardwood oak, ash, beech etc. The 880 delivers more torque lower down the Rev range which tends to be more suited to hardwoods. (IMO).

This! I run all huskys except biggest n smallest saws: 150 & 880. My only criticism of the 880 is the air filter which clogs very quickly, just have to clean it twice daily so not a big ballache
