My first chainsaw...

Mine was a second hand McCulloch top handle circa 1996.

It had the option of pressing some top sharpening stone down onto the cutters whilst it ran!!??!!

How the living Jesus could that ever have worked ??

It did however earn me some money whilst at college until I could afford my next saw......

The Stihl 020AV......

What a heavy beast .

I miss the plug chain petrol cap linkage and the filthy power......but not the arm crippling weight !!!

Just found my old electric Dolmar 219 in the attic!   1600 watt motor with a 20 inch bar

Although unsafe for normal use without an anti kickback brake, I could weld up a frame to fix it in place and limit the saw to an arc to cut up to 20 inch logs

This should work well and quietly with the Electric Portek Quick splitter here at home as the Palax combi will really only cope with 10 inch diameter .

Quite tempted unless anyone thinks of a reason why it is not a good idea

All you need for that is a tip guard - cos the tip is the kick back area - an yr sorted - just do it :) K

The other problem with the Dolmar is that it weighs 6.5 kg so mounted on a sawhorse may be less hard work!

But thanks for the tip    (pun intended!)
