Hello Arbtalk!

Thought i'd kick start my first post with my recent splicing work. Any questions, thoughts, feelings etc welcome.

Attached is 2 adjustible cambium savers made with 10mm roblon double braid, 13mm yale scorch, and DMM anchor rings. Splices were class 1 double braid for roblon and class 1 16 strand for yale scorch.

All whipping protected with shrink wrap that contains glue to protect the labels.

Cheers,

Liam

evening!! have your hands recovered yet?

whats the deal with patron tree access? its a 32strand-single braid. ive whipped a keyring in the end using old zing-it just for installing, but methinks an eye would be neater just very hard to do as its quite tight. just a simple singl braid but take more outer strands off?

for the keen ones, Nod now has splicing tools available on the net Tree Climbing Equipment Online Shop - Treeworker.co.uk - Home

Although its also reccommended to get training in the art of splicing for obvious reasons!

Haha yeah they've cooled down now!!

The patron is a static line and i would say not splicable? If it is splicable then it'd probably have to be a core to core splice as thats where all the strength is.

in other words..........stuff it!!!!

its just an access line for footlockin so im not too bovvered about the eye, but its easier to have a ring than a k-not for installin n retrievin.

look in the ads on the right, theres one for ropecutters, theyve got some nice ones!

you were at a tradeshow and didnt spend owt???? blimey!!!! my beachrollys great!

Hi, Just got some armor prus and trying to find which splice to use. I have seen class 1 double braid used, locking brummel, and some mention class 2 double braid splice, (which I believe is what the rope requires as it is for core dependent ropes). If so should I be following the instructions on the samson site for class 2 double braid?

A splice would look so much neater (and stronger) than the fishermans knots, so any help would be appreciated.

Old Snake is the man to talk to mate.

I know Rich Rule had some issues with splices in AP, so his input would help you as well.

They charge £350 each to respond to a PM, I believe.:001_tt2:

the AP that hadleigh spliced for me is performing very well. however you would have to ask him for the details f it because all i know about it is that theres 2 nice eyes in it
