Another 40 year old just starting

There is a large 51 meter giant redwood a reasonable drive from me. I have all Rollands gear lol soooo

 

Basically it's going to take me a while to buy the ropes and harness and caribenars etc etc after I've done next weeks chainsaw from tree and aerial pruning course so I'm very seriously considering climbing that fu***r.

 

Plan is to drink no more than 1/3 of a bottle of port on Saturday night and go out with the dog. If I have phone signal and can get gps grid reference of exact location I'll send it on and if they don't hear back in 3 hours phone me, then who fire brigade? Ambulance?

 

What do you reckon? Do I need a second climber if I'm not using a saw or is this sort of thing perfectly acceptable for a "trained" climber?

I’ve seen that tree, you’re going to need a long ladder to get to the first branch!
