What winter tyres are best for a Navara NP300?

I wonder if that's what has happened to this set of BFG ATs. The set on the Dmax I had from new and only did slow work around the lanes. The set on the Hilux were SH so no idea on what use they had had before but they seem to have way less grip on slippery roads than the ones on the Dmax.

Interesting thread Steve. I've got road tyres on my B2500 which are lethal in anything but dry conditions.

Problem is that AT & MT tyres can be even worse on wet tarmac.

I'll wager that most of us spend more time on wet tarmac than snow or mud.

I'd like a decent all terrain (Or even mud terrain) that handles very well on wet roads. Any recommendations?

So after a bit of reading the Cooper Discoverer AT3 seem to have the best feedback for wet tarmac conditions as well as being an all terrain tyre, because of their silica based compound.

From what I understood, natural rubber tyres are nice and grippy in warmer climes, but hard and slippy in cooler temperatures.

The coopers are also significantly cheaper. Even if they're not as good in mud as the favourite BFGs, it's a small sacrifice for on road traction with the weather we get.

I'm pretty sold.

I have Nokians on my Hilux without studs and Nokians with studs on the family car.

 

Steve, the difference you will notice if you get some decent winters will be amazing.

 

the Hilux has 18's on but the winters are are 17's and slightly narrower.

 

Look at the old school rally drivers.  Remember the Mk2 escort RS 2000's, Lancias etc...  when they did their winter stages the wheels didn't even make it half way towards the flared arches.

Bring up on your computer Pneus 123 they also have a UK outlet feed in the relevant size etc & it gives all the info
