Pros:
Light weight, quiet, less vibrations, no exhaust fumes, no buying petrol, cheap to recharge, can be used indoors, great for carving/woodworking.
Can use the batteries on other tools ,Hedge cutters etc

Cons:
The batteries are nearly £200 each, needs a sensor to tell you you're running out of chain oil.
Only available with 14" bar.

I recently wrote this review if its of any help

I'm a fan personally and only see them getting better.  TGB has valid concerns above but I don't think this is going to happen quickly.  I'm sure if Still see a way to reduce the physical size of batteries in the future they will so though.  Wether they would be nice enough to provide some sort of adapter to fit the newer batteries into the older saws who knows.

Actually Stihl have already released a different sized battery i believe, but it is for their householder range of tools

15 minutes ago, AHPP said:

Liquid fuel attracts 58p/litre duty and 20% VAT whereas electricity only attracts 5% VAT, though I suspect your presentation isn’t weighted too heavily towards the moral aspects of tax avoidance...

that will change as electric power takes off, when they work out how to charge 20% to business users

i want a Li saw for cutting the odd fork afore they go thru the chipper.  I find if i'm chipping for a while and the 560xp cools down i hafta go thru the whole rigmaroll of starting a cold saw again which is a PITA on these auto tune saws.  Then ya gotta blip it and get it running smoothly afore cutting the aforementioned fork. With a Li saw, pick it up,  chain brake off, pull trigger and cut,   none of this warming up/ blipping the throttle malarky.

They are the way forward.
