Get the lightest saw possible, but power around the 60cc mark.

Ergonomics is important,if you use a heavy saw all day it gets tedious very quickly.

You dont need a big lug of a saw or guidebar to knock over big trees if thats what your doin.

What do you envisage using the saw for Nikk? Felling? (what size if trees) cutting up wood already on the ground? Firewood?

Well if you are getting into it, get into it.

 

The safety the safety throttle is often called an interlock, the bumper spikes are often called dogs or dawgs, this picture has the fuel primer bulb labeled as the choke when that's actually the little blue control sitting between the throttle and the interlock.

 

This machine has no makers plate but all the best ones have Husqvarna written on them ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,discuss....................

So if you turn up with a Spud ported 395 with a 36" bar they may not be best pleased

They will just feel inadequate:001_tt2: It did happen and the tutor rocked up and had two saws ported.....that's two tutors BTW:thumbup:

I have:

 

Small: Silky Natanoko 330mm

Medium: Husky 550xpg

Large: Stihl MS880

 

I reckon that covers the lot and only two need fueling.

I did my course with my smallest saw, ms440 16"

I mentioned I was retiring it after ten years to upgrade.

Following week instructor emails me, I'd like to buy your saw.

A 50cc will do the job, but a 70cc will do it faster with not much more weight gain.

(And you can mill with it).
