Where did you get yours Matty? I purchased mine from Treekit. It was advertised with the Teufelburger rope that Pete McTree has in his picture but treekit said their were known issues with that rope and supplied it with the tennex that you have. I believe that the Teufel rope was not suitable due to its special coating. I beginning to wonder if there is any truth in that story.

My source was Treekit who sold me mine. I was looking forward to seeing what the Trex was like as Tennex tends to be pretty hairy and catch on rough barked trees. But they would not sell me the Safebloc spliced with Trex due to the incompatibility issues. They did not go into much more detail on what the issues were.

I was told exactly the same,Although after it slipping in to that position I started to doubt if I had got the trex and tennex muddled up and why I posted the thread.

Read it.just think a pully would have done a better job with no issues

Maybe Jonny... I would not of fancied putting as much force on a dead tree if it could of been advoided as the safe bloc is designed to lessen force applied to rigging anchors it was imo the perfect tool for the job.

Mine appears to be spliced tighter, however there is the potential for some movement as you would expect.

It spinning in it's sling / rope looks like first step to it popping out the sling with catastrophic results - glad yr happy with it, an clearly they get used a lot - but it would not be on my kit list

I have whipped the splice tight onto the safebloc now. Zero movement.

I would not dismiss it for some poor splicing, as it is a very useful tool

Always work to what yr comfy with , I havent used one - but if its getting the job done fr you - found the single thimbles n pulley blocks adequate- but still wary on dead - dodgy old trees , K
