Courant harness bridge fail

Pretty poor by todays standards , never liked those sewn eye bridges - they looked cheap n nasty- better ones available so I wld shop around if yr comfy in that harness , K

Got a reply from Courant saying they are sending me a new bridge as they updated the materials in 2017 and they recommend replacing them at the first sight of the slightest wear.

Won't be using there bridges again have fitted the tree Austria one

Was the stress still on the bridge rather than the back-up tape strop during the remainder of the day? Did it get noticeably worse?

 

Pretty brave call posting the pic of the back-up system. Job needs doing and no doubt it's safe but publishing it is another issue maybe (i'd likely have done the same but maybe thought twice about telling anyone.)

 

If the bridge had snapped-out and it went to the tape sling, that tiny little ½ inch movement would have given you some adrenaline hit!!

 

 

Can't say I agree with you Kevin, I'd have done the very same as Andy as that repair is more than safe enough. A half inch movement is summit we must all deal with at least a couple of times per week. Tree Austria is a good harness though!

I hear what ya saying thur kenith. That sling is lolered- or should be- so it's no biggie. Although I probably wouldn't use it as a permanent fix, as the op has stated it has been replaced. Most blokes are looking at any excuse to sack it off for the day fair play to the man fe using his noggin. But sounds like it has worn prematurely and it was a good job ya man is on the ball and noticed

Sorry guys, just to clarify...

 

I didn't mean to infer it might have been unsafe or inadequate and I agree, when the job needs doing, find a way to do it.

 

All I meant was that I'm not sure I would have shared the pic of the temp work around perhaps for fear of encouraging others to take a similar course of action.

That bridge is to small , I said that when i first saw it.

I talked to a guy from courant a month or two about that bridge and they said they have put a new one on. Glad no-one is hurt.

Agree, saw it in a shop in Hannover, was right dissapointed, as i really liked the look of the harness, then tried it on, saw the bridge and decided very no. Sticking very happily with my heavily modified Tree Austria 3.2, next harness will be the Simharguguhagu... 😁
