I planted 3 rows of Clairettes,  red spuds of Brittany,  6 weeks today, noticed this morning that more than half have flower buds already. Hottish weather,  23 degrees today,  with quite a bit of rain recently,    has moved everything on so fast.  Weeds as well! I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I'd stopped using  weedkiller spray and have opted for a flame wand. I took 5 hours in total doing my gravel driveway,  used a complete 13kg gasbottle, not a weed to be seen. Next day pissed it down. Day after weeds coming through again. Sod it! Next move is vinegar, salt and fairy liquid mixture. See if that works.

Had the first lettuce, trusses forming on the toms, cucumber flowers happening, courgettes and beans in the garden....courgettes got nipped by the frost but the growing tips were fortunately fine.

Peppers are putting some growth in now.

I read in a book by Dick/James Strawbridge that they grow tomatoes upside down, I guess to keep them away from pests/diseases , and they don't need staked, so thought I would give that a bash using old 10l paint buckets with a hole cut in the bottom. Some cucumber plants dangling in there too. A few of them I sowed some salad in the top.

Once they get a bit bigger I'll need to get them raised up more, might even try a few hanging outside if it's a good summer.

And the "normal" tomatoes in the greenhouse.

Bare in mind this is in the Highlands, so probably not as far on as you southerners!
