Sad to hear of your loss Eggs. We've not had dogs for a few years now since our Border Collie Jess. We had her from 2 weeks old when her mum died and spoon fed her milk and Weetabix. We were going to keep her till she was weaned but had her for 18 years and were heartbroken when she went after a couple of strokes. I don't think I could do it again.

Thank you, all.

This one was a hard one for me because the dog was still up and about. He had a tumour on his paw that ruptured on Monday evening. We had taken him to our vets regularly over the last few months and were told it was a leg off job. We consulted with a specialist vet in Newmarket who told us the same. He was too old for that. His time had come. I still don't like playing God mind.

Tough job payin the bills or pulling the plug, time is short, make the most, then pull th3 plug,,, easy to say from here hard to do in your boots.

but sayin that comes from.... a dog we had as a kid got distemper, us kids wanted drugs for our pet, but dad said it may not work cost to much, you can have a new puppy that will last longer.

we hugged and said good bye, ? then we had a new puppy which lasted till she was  13yrs

It's the last decent thing that you can do for them Eggs. The right decision is to prevent further suffering and it would be selfish to do otherwise, no matter how much we want to keep them around. It don't make it any easier, but it's the right thing to do and I always feel that we owe them that.
