I used to think that, then I bought a positioned.

Does your hitch not get memory after a while making it a pain to take up slack?

The positioner releases so easily, no matter how heavy the climber.

Not really, I untie it and replace it every few years.

Slack tending and release is unoticeable, although I do have mans arms.

I have been using a zillion for a while now. Mostly good, the rope is robust, mime shows inevitable signs of wear considering how much it's been used but the sheath is tough. Only down side in use is that it will suddenly slip when something comes in contact with the top of the mechanism. I think this is more likely than a prussik loop type set up.

You cant do that with a zillon

That isnt a picture of the replaceable zillon rope. It only has an eye on one end. You get a big piece of heat shrink tubing to cover a figure 8 stopper knot etc.

Oh yeah, i read it as grillon not zillon. I would not have a clue on the zillon as never used one.

This thread caused me to dig out my old 10mm strop with the loose stowed in a chalk bag.

I nicked the VT bits for something else ages ago.

Used my mates Zillon today and really liked it.

Anyone tried it on 10mm? And can I buy the Zillon unit separately anywhere?
