Ochsenkopf vs Gransfors vs Fiskars Splitting Axe/Maul?

Not my area of expertise at all. Got a fibreglass Oregon (aka Bahco) one for de-jamming the processor lol but it's been years since I've split wood manually.

Friends want to make an educated purchase for dealing with a decent amount of rounds of all species; trying to help them, much use I am!

Any feedback gratefully received. Thank you.

Edit: Or Hultafors?...

Must admit very very happy with my Fiskars X27.

But i haven't used the others so can't compare.

Are the others not serious money? 100 quid+, can get a fiskars for around 40-50 quid.

Prob split 40-50T last few years and the Fiskars is a breath of fresh air, can swing for hours without getting a sweat on, my old mual u wre sweating after 30mins.

Whichever they find most comfortable in hand.

All decent makes will split well and hold a suitable edge. Wooden vs fibreglass handles are a matter of personal preference.

I like my Gransfors large splitting axe.

I really rate Fiskars, good price, well thought out quality products & lifetime guarantee. Can't complain about that.

Also love Gransfors (not got their axe, just a froe) because it's proper old school metalwork.

cheers, Steve
