Need help. Can anyone translate forestry speak lol. Bucking, snedding etc etc lol. Daft question I know but here's the place to ask I guess.

Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

Bucking is yank for cross cutting or "ringing up".

Snedding aka "rigging out" or best term = delimbing.

"Legging in" - buttress removal in front of harvester.

I've heard brash management as "pulping up", "trashing tops", "dicing up"...

Any more...?

Deck chair/barber chair - when a tree has too much weight on one side so splits vertically and kicks back towards you as you fell.

Not really forestry talk, but I always remember "skid row" comes from logging.

Just googled it an this made me laugh....

A skid row or skid road is an impoverished area, typically urban, inhabited by the poor, the homeless, or others considered disreputable or forgotten by society.[1] A skid row may be anything from an impoverished urban district to a red-light district to a gathering area for the homeless. In general skid row areas are inhabited or frequented by individuals marginalized by poverty or through drug addiction. Urban areas considered skid rows often feature cheap taverns, dilapidated buildings, and drug dens as well as other features of urban blight. Used figuratively it may indicate the state of a poor person's life.

The term skid road originally referred to the path along which timber workers skidded logs

Not sure can so easily blame the tree :sneaky2:

My definition of a barbers chair would be when the faller cocks up.
