okay so people who work for factories, retail stores, business, shouldn't get a pension as part of their payment for the work they do.

That's correct. Don't forget though that the tax payer should make up the difference in wages by paying benefits when companies pay poor wages.

It's a joke.

We, the tax payer are subsidising companies to employ people.

Sorry for the derail Simon.

I doubt I'd suit retirement anyway.

I'd end up watching far too much porn.

Nah, according to Leonard Cohen you'll get over it eventually:

I don't need a lover, no

The wretched beast is tame

I don't need a lover

So blow out the flame

Mind you, he was 82 and still hadn't retired.

Bit like if you have paid into a mortgage all your life for a house, the moment your in a care home- you have to sell to pay for the care, if you don't have a house to sell/large pot of money they pay for you!

Yes it stinks that your house goes BUT you or your family pick your care home, you can base it off cost, area, cqc reports level of staff whatever... if it's £1000 a week it doesn't matter if you end up in credit from house sale because you live too long it doesn't matter government take over the payments you stay in same home.

If you do not have a pot to piss in then the government pay from the off but you go into a care home based on places available and cheapest cost possible so you end up somewhere that stinks of p!ss that is understaffed.

As to contributing to employer pensions you now know that cost is there and can not be avoided so you could always cost it in in the future by lowering salary offered by 3%.

3% of £20,000 is 1 half decent tree take down.
