Sold it on to a guy who works in an agriculture workshop nearby.It was way down on power but the deciding factor was the hand and arm vibrations on it were very high.

Dealer near me says the 555 and 545 huskies are same as pro models build wise but just detuned? Sounds whack to me.

 

I buy and use lots of second hand Saws for arb work and carving, infact I have only had 3 new saws. Mostly if chosen carefully the second hand ones have been excellent, with the odd wind up. I do however enjoying fixing them, and have 2 of most saws so if one is down the other can still play. Honestly not sure I trust my newer saws not to break any more than the ones I've had and known and fixed over the years.

 

Probably not saved huge amounts of money by the time I have found, gone and bought then fixed second hand saws.

 

But I don't run a business where teams are off to work with my kit all day, usually just me and a couple groundies are most.

If yer gonna use it every day save up or get a loan and buy a new 560 . A good 357 takes a bit of beating , it's getting a good one that's the trick .

You could buy one well used and get Spud to give it the treatment !

As I understand it a 545 is a 550 without 'rev boost' which enables the saw to achieve maximum revs quicker as opposed to the peak revs achieved & I think the 555 is too. Theres probably some minor differences, but

Ported 357 is wicked, but for chogging get a 365 on a 20", and when the warranty is up grind out the transfer ports. It'll be similar weight to your 44, and handle stems well. If cash is tight jonesies do finance. Not worth the risk 2nd hand.

Funny enough i was offered a 365 a while back,just the power unit.It had been rebuilt as its a 2002 model.

I trust the guy who built it but i fancy summit a bit newer.
