I remember the peak oil scare. Looks like someone underestimated the number of dinosaurs. They obviously didn't do their research like watching the flintstones etc.

There was some interesting stuff about oil on the radio the other day. One of the oil Sheiks had a very good answer when asked about peek oil, after a long pose he said "the stone age did not end because they ran out of stones"

Surely peak oil is not really relevant?

Burning the stuff is just not very clever, and there are increasingly affordable alternatives.

Whether there is plenty more or not seems to be missing the point somewhat.

Heard that quote a few times over the years..

 

Whats being said is the oil age isn't going to end when we use the last drop of oil, but when the oil thats left isn't enough to satisfy demand..

 

In fact the new buzzword in the industry is just that "peak demand"..

 

 

The push for renewable's is all part of the process of conserving whats left in the ground..

It might be dressed up as an attempt to address climate change, but its not really, its about oil scarcity in the coming decades and trying in some way to prep for its impact...

Actually I think it's mainly small dead sea creatures, although iirc some pesky russian science bods think it had nothing to do with plants and animals and that it was made in the earth from carbon or brought here on asteroids!
