Anyone use a "safety razor"?

Apologies, I meant with a double edge. With a straight edge I'd be worried if I had even a slight hand tremor.

Ah, no worries, i'm pretty swift with my d.e razor, as i've used it for years and feel pretty confident with it, occasionally it does remind me not to loose respect for it in the form of a little love bite!

I use my open razors very carefully, and with exceptional respect.

They certainly take no prisoners as when they bite, they take a bloody big bite!!

Awesome shave though!

While we're on the subject of razors; anyone shave the old dome and if so, what have you found best suited? Personally I use a Mach 3.

Yes i do. I've just swapped over to wilkinson sword extreme 3 disposables. Have been shaving my bonce for the last 20 odd years. Do it every time i get a shave, normally twice a week. Still get odd nick, but still do full face, neck and bonce in under five minutes.

It's been a while since I got got converted to the old fashioned safety razor (still haven't mastered the cut throat). I wish I'd converted years ago - closer shave, no shaving rash, quicker and so much cheaper.

Noticed a pack of Mach 5 cartridges in the supermarket yesterday, at £2.15 per cartridge. I just bought 50 safety double edged blades off of fleabay for not much more than that.

I use a cut throat in the summer,I grow a Beard in the winter but tidy up with a Cut throat-

I think I paid £14 for the "Cut thraot razor starter pack".Soap,Brush,Razor a few blades and some plasters. Its the kind that holds half of a Razor blade.Liked it so much I bough 300 Razor blades for about £30 off Ebay.Like many on here I got sick of being ripped off for plastic razors.

Never used any of the fancy ones mentioned above.  For years I just went for whatever was on special offer at the supermarket - Mach 3 being by far the most comfortable and long lasting imo.  Last year or so, I've just started using the electric hair clippers once a fortnight.  Finally, at 38 years old, my face has a respectable coverage of active follicles.  I feel utterly cheated in life that my first beard came out grey.
