Perhaps there are too many harvesters in the country chasing the work ?

That theory has been banging around for a while now and it's wearing thin. Interestingly there is about to be an audit of the forest machines now working in the Uk. Back in 2001 it was 300 odd harvesters...

I can't speak for Scotland, but in England, where's the planting??!!

Standard practice for construction/civil engineering sub-contract work and has been for many, many years. You still issue your own invoice at the end of the month, three months later you should be paid.

Absolutely nothing like the issues being raised in the original post.

You have missed my point entirely :001_rolleyes:

I was not comparing the 90day terms with forestry terms.

I was highlighting the difficulty in getting solidarity within any industry.

The government guidelines are that small firms should be payed with 30 days (may even be 28 I don't recall) I note that these firms generally expect us to abide by HSE "guidelines":sneaky2:

You may be happy to wait 90days, but I have known firms go bust in less time, so I'll pass :001_smile:

It was the same before harvesters, that's one of the reasons the FCA was formed but it got hijacked in the early days and Donald Maclean has had to pick up the pieces and get it going again.

Here's another thing - loading flats. In Scotland they were charging £6/tonne to load flats with the forwarder. Down here, no such luck, you're just expected to do it; they've got you by the short and curlies, knowing you'll tow the line because you want the wood away.

Donald Mclean is to FISA what Nigel Farage is to the EU. Absolutely sees right through the corruption and ain't afraid of nobody. Fair play.

A winching contractor down here was kept waiting 30 months for £32k... No kidding.

Nope, I think Rosey has just bu**ered up the third page by making a point to Vespasian and TCD

Sorry I actually was just trying to put a clearer version up as a copy was sitting on top of my scanner , I did't mean for it to be so big, I have no axe to grind.
