How about the old Trewhella monkey winch you know that big thing on metal wheels .

we had one at houghall in the late 90's still in good working order and like ed says taking the tension off was a bit like a game of buckaroo; you were never quite sure when the thing was going to release. We also had a little david stump grinder, now that thing scared the hell out of most of us including the staff. oh happy days:001_rolleyes:

sitting in the back of a forestery comision sherpa van at 6am in winter in the dark doing about 80mph, sending your kit up the mountain on the skyline to save carrying it up, one saw for everything. trying to cut limbs of with a bow saw and hang on to the tree with the other arm.(at about 12). strange how even 15 years ago seemed so long ago when you compare techniques and kit

Sweeping up!!!!!!!!!!!

The blower has to be the third best tool, after the saw and chipper.

And not being petered to death by every other passerby asking for free wood and when you say no they look at you like you shot their dog :001_rolleyes:

So true, I don't know why people look offended when you won't give them your wood for free!!
