I spoke to a guy a while back who mentioned this, i couldnt quite get my head around what it was. Can any of you guys explain better than he did?

 

It was a mechanical cam action device that replaced your prussic knot, a lot like many of these new fangled things around EXCEPT! your rope was just clipped in from the side and could quite easily pop out again.

On the building back then, but I well remember that moment of horror when you heard the 'death rattle' from within your tartan flask!

 

Also remember logging competitions at Stonehaugh (Kielder forest), blokes with big sideburns wearing PPE Levi's legging it round with revving Husky's after a lengthy session in the beer tent!

 

That was before all this Safe and Healthty stuff, mind you.....
