Stolen from Betley near Crewe, Cheshire on Saturday 12th November. Stihl ms660 30" bar, 2014. Stihl ms261, 2012, Stihl ms261c, 2016, Stibl long reach hedge cutter, Stihl 4mix backpack blower. Honda foreman quad, distinctive turquoise seat cover and ally tool boxes mounted front and rear, reg W297 WRE. Ifor Williams 5x10 twin axel trailer with caged sides, stick on number plate X387OES. Serial number LM105.

Could do with some kind of national register setting up,where you put make/ model in then lists serial numbers of all stolen equipment.would help returning equipment to legitimate owners.

Arbsafe and the National Plant Register. The trouble is, people will buy cheap stuff and not get the serial number checked prior to sale!

I think you need to keep on making the point Steve - I'll mention arbsafe in next newsletter to folk - why not ask Jonsie to as well?

maybe the likes of stihl , Husqvarna etc could help???.....print the logo on the user manuals

They could easily help. The buyer info could be programmed into the electronic carbs when the saw is new and kept on a dealer database so when the saw comes in they could identify the owner

I don't think there is much incentive for manufacturers and retailers to help prevent theft or assist owners in recovering their stolen assets. Every theft is another sale after all.

Anyone who buys kit knowing it is stolen (or 'turns a blind eye', 'sometimes you are better off not knowing', 'ask no questions' etc etc) feeds these scumbags and helps perpetuate this industry.
