    Dolmar

Andrew The modified studs, bar and chains arrived today, far quicker than I thought. Thanks for sorting that out for me.
  12. What is the largest bar a 9010 will run ? Also I am struggling to locate sprocket nose bars for this saw,any one point me in the right direction, std solid 28" bar just about worn out now. Thanks Jez
  13. I am a private user and consume approx 30 tonnes firewood each year ( have to supply to elderly parents as well as my own use) I have a large self build hydraulic splitter set up and I am seeking regular supply of waste to process.not fussy about what type of wood it is.
  14. Dan,can you PM me ASAP ref your crusher theft, need to speak to you about a simmilar incident over here in sunny staffordshire. Jez
  15. Every time I visit the States I bring a new Stihl saw back.I fly with Virgin Airlines and checked with them prior to purchasing. No problem if the saw is new,ie no fule or oil.I tell the selling agent that I do not want it testing or assembling so no fuel ever put into it.I then remove bar and chain and bring home in checked in luggage,ie in hold of plane.Only problem I have ever had is with regards to warranty work recently, the coil pack on my Ms290 went down.Stihl US warranty is the same as UK,but local dealer said that as saw was not CE marked he could not touch it.After much ranting at him he eventualy agrred to fix it under warranty.
  16. Just tried to start my Ms290 and no joy.Seems there is no spark so suspect coil pack may have gone down.Saw was purchased in December 2011 when I was in USA.My question is can I get it repaired here under warranty. Both Stihl USA and UK have the sane warranty,2 years for domestic use. Cheers Jez
  17. Hate the new caps, but it only seems to be the oil cap that causes me a problem, turn it to lock, then pick up saw,and hey presto, bar oil everywhere.Thaught it was just me overfilling tank though.

    Makita saws

just started to run a Makita DCS9010,can say that it is a great saw for the money, far cheaper than an MS660,but for as often as I will use it,could not justify spending the extra to go orange.
  19. splitting not a problem, just built a diesel powered hydraulic splitter, great fun to play with.
  20. Took out a lagre Eucolyptus tree last september and ringed it up.How long will I need to leave this to season for before being ready to burn. Also, when seasoned, will it be any good ?
  21. Just sucked the mop and purchased a new Makita DCS 9010.went to my local spares supplier to get a spare bar and chain, only to be told he did not stock spares for non orange machines.Any ideas where they are available. Cheers
  22. looking to purchase a new saw to cut up some large fallen trees on a farm I maintain, looking to run a 36" bar minimum. What would you recommend, looking at long term spares availability etc.Or would I get away with a smaller saw,old 281xp or simmilar. It will only get used maybe two or 3 times a year max Jez
