Hydraulic winch on Unimog

have a look on the bay, but be aware a hydraulic winch wont come with the pipework or valves to fit it, and your going to need one of around 15000lb pull to be capable of standing a chance of pulling a stuck mog......save a wee while longer and get a pto driven one, even a basic capstan style one

Seeing as I need one asap then looks like the Bay is the best option for now. I realise it's not perfect and that a pto winch is what I should really have but got to have something plumbed in by next weds!

what about mounting it on a plate so that you can remove it and fit it front or back and store it in a locker when not needed

You'll be luck to life a winch on and off the size you'll need to pull a mog. Ok to swap about in yard but not on site and definitely not lift onto a locker to store!

IME, you do not need a huge winch to get a mog out of trouble.

I've got mine moving again with a small tirfor.

The secret is to stop as soon as you loose traction, if you keep trying you simply dig big holes with the wheels, then you are in real trouble.

there was a 6.5T hydraulic "comeup" winch on the work mog and that was fine for pulling the mog out and winching over tree,s not fast and probably not the best but did its job.

found the trick to getting unstuck was to match the low range gears to the winch speed and kinda play them off each other.

Farmi forestry winch converted to hydraulic which will drag valtra and trailer, not got proper stuck YET to try it fully but also makes a good dozer for clearing a way in.

Just over 3k for the lot.
