Hydraulic oil spill...

On a recently laid tarmac drive...

Whilst I was hospitalised due to being stung 7 times by Asian Hornets, one of our chippers blew a hose.

(it actually just came undone, second time too...)

Then it emptied almost the entire hydro tank over the clients drive before any-one noticed.

I visited the client today and oh my...I have some cleaning up to do Wednesday morning.

Thing is, other than detergents, what else is good on oil.

I'll be down the the local hydraulic specialist first thing to see what they use.

A bit lost me...

be careful using tarmac 'cleaners'. I used them when my chipper did something similar then jet washed the whole drive, all looked good that night but the following day when it had dried there were clean patches all over where it had taken the colour out of the old tarmac. one not very happy customer!

Been there done that several times. Get some advice and possible proffesional help. Oil melts the tar you then put detergent on which makes it worse. Finally scrubbing and jet washing the loose stone away leaving a hole.

I think the best thing to do is carry a spill kit and get the oil of asap. It may be good practice to put a soak sheet down before use. They make soak mats that don't absorb water so they don't get wet.

Get the worst of the oil off and let the sun bleach it out over the next couple of years maybe ?
