  1. Today
  2. 30 years ago... Bill Clinton. 🤔
  3. Yeah, that’s the idea really - plenty of contingency fund and eyes wide open. The thing is with older fords/trucks is it’s all there to see, no part on part on part everything is accessible and simple. Similar with the FJ, these trucks are old so of course unless they’ve been factory restored are going to have issues who buys a 40yr old truck and thinks it’s going to be a modern Volvo. Plan is either to keep it forever and touch myself when I look at it or enjoy it for however long and sell on as I’ll only put a few hundred miles on it a year.
  4. Same with Franklin's expedition to discover the Northwest passage. They were icebound for a couple of years eating lead poisoned rations, made them loopy enough it was decided to walk out and they loaded a small boat to drag "essential" items with them such as furniture from the captain's dining room.
  5. I knew they used lead acetate in wine but assumed it was to sweeten. The early tinned foods were soldered with lead and it caused a lot of poisoning of sailors and Scott's missiom to south pole IIRC

  8. We're fcked. (read this last night and thought it said mortality... and my response would be "we're not so fcked after all then")
  9. Ah, well that's a relief.
  10. A lot of video footage around (always a lot of video footage these days, no one stepping in to help, just want to record it for ticktocks). Saw one last night where a civilian doctor on the scene wanted to go and help her, but was denied till 15(?) minutes later an ambulance arrived. Didn't see many medics rushing around the car in the video trying to save her either. OK I am basing this bit on the UK, if the police here hurt someone they switch from enforcers to medics very very quickly (at least on the TV shows they do). ...victim blaming... from different angles it looks like she was simply trying to drive off from being parked... crime from the videos is a simple traffic stop... does that warrant being shot usually?
  11. If it was me I would be telling them not to get too greedy, wanting to rule the world never ends well. Stick to Italy, southern Spain, north Africa, and do that extremely well rather than expanding too much, unable to control the monster you create and collapsing.
  12. To bring the conversation right down, 2 pages in and it is still 'safe for work', can I borrow your movie collection next time Mrs P is away....
  13. We know the track record of the BBC on reporting on American news... sometimes or memories are better than they hope. Not saying article is right or wrong, just you're probably looking at the wrong place for accurate information if you're trying to get an understanding of the facts around the shooting.
  14. The funny(?) thing is we're still drinking from lead now. A lot of domestic water supplies incorporate old lead pipes somewhere along the line, normally buried in inaccessible places.
  15. Hi Iam the janitor in st columbkilles priamry school and we are looking to have a large amount of wood chips delivered to our primary school for our trim trail and also we are extending our trim trail along the grass area so the children can get out and play in this area in all weathers . we have all the wood and tarpolines on order. the access point is through big double gates the another set of doulde gates to the tipping area all on a hard surface so easy access then to be tipped in between the clothing bank and small storage shed in the picture . we have all ready had several big vehicles in this area . we had a big 40 yard skip vehicle in this area and got in and out no problem. this would be great if we could get big loads of would chip as we need around 40 ton to complete the whole trim trail as its all muddy and needing scrapped back and filled with wood chips so the children can have fun and play on the trim trail. hope to hear back soon about organising loads of wood chips thanks so much craig
  16. I don't know what you're worrying about Mark. Morality will prevail.
  17. You can't blame her for getting shot three times. The masked ICE agents were the ones attacking her car, not the other way round. It's a very slippery slope if you consider that her execution was in any way justified.
  18. Ave, barkeep. Two cups of Gaulish wine please. Leaded or unleaded, gents? Interesting. Didn’t know that. I do know why plumbers are called plumbers though. The scientific name for lead is plumbum, hence Pb on the periodic table. So a bloke who works with plumbum pipes is a plumber. Confusingly, nowadays house water pipes are made of copper but a copper is the big fellow with the moustache and the truncheon (at least according to a film I saw once). Nice trivia.
  19. Kind of true still, if it is too long you forget points or your eyes glaze over towards the end of reading it. If I get one that is too long then my first assumption is whoever wrote it just copied and pasted from previous examples, cover everything, without ever looking at the site or site conditions. My favourite example is specifying a hard hat to walk into a green field months before any plant is considered to start work there. Copy and paste, makes me wonder if the rest of the risk assessment is up to the job.
  20. I am an experienced climber competent in all aspects of the job. Looking to get as much weekend work as i can get this year. Please get in contact if interested
  21. The RA should be short. 2 key elements are 1. deal with 99% of tehrisks by specifying that only competent people are used. 2. Deal with the other 1% by checking for unusual risks and specifying control measures. If the workforce is competent the 1% can fit on one page and the workforce can be involved in completing it.
  22. Its basically the same thing
