Morning all, Going to be pretty wet today. Family trip to go paddle boarding, but Iβll stay in the cafe due to recent ear infection. Cloud with silver lining then. Looking good weather wise next week.

I did about 3300 km on the old girl this summer. One big trip with two mates when I carried all the luggage on the old girl. One breakdown when the neutral switch gave up the Ghost but that only took 15min to sort out.

I've no idea, but if iirc it sold for 40K ish 35 years ago.. it was absolutely beautiful and great to ride. Really only worked on 2 Vinnies as in building the engines, that and a Comet. The bottom ends were probably the most beefy, bullet proof but simple that I ever saw.... although a lot of the gubbins was on the outside which I didn't really mind as it was accessible so serviceable. I also thought similar about the only Jota that I had in bits { but to a lesser extent } the quality of the engineering was cheaper as what went with the era, but still muckle compared to the 70's / 80's British equivalent... imo of course.... which I suppose would have been a delicate Norman Hyde Trident.

Yeah it will do the job. Much more enjoyable and less graft than a day on the hobby mill.

I wonder what the Egli would be worth today?

I did that in my teens, the 2T was a big performance boost but scary with bantam brakes.. First bikes at 14, Two 1949 C11g's for Β£6 10 shillings, a fortune back thenπ built one out of the two and used it to go to school well before being legal, parents didn't know and nobody ever asked. Best bike of that era was a 1976 Rickman chassis kit with a tuned t140v engine. Most fun 81' 440 Maico enduro. Probably the best / most memorable bike I rebuilt was an Egli Vincent with a Black Shadow engine ππ Seems like someone else's life now, Cheers.

There was a lot about like you say, old lad down Rd at a farm who is sadly no longer with us had a Norbsa mid 50s wideline with a A7 500 twin copled to a rrt2 box I allways thought it looked and sounded well,, I went to a bike show with my dad in late 70s and saw this bike that consisted of wheels frame forks engine single seat rear sets clip ons and a 5 gallon ally tank that said triton on it and I thought I going to own one of them one day so the one above was purchased in 93 from a old guy in melton Mowbery for the grand sum of Β£1200 so not a bad investment ??.

No one asked for any personal info at all or pictures etc etc I asked the names of the ships he served on, not Pennant Numbers in particular any that may have come out of Swan Hunters. Talk about read something from nothing. No need for you to be guessing on anyoneβs behalf. There wasnβt really any point as such in the question nor any need for a random name to be thrown in or for it becoming a pissing contest of whoβs been where and to what port or pub. My guess is: If you show the picture to your mate and he was on the same boat he'll be able to work out who he is and likewise with the list of places, find common ground! Evidently he doesn't feel like giving everyone on an open forum all of his personal info, but was hoping to satisfy some of your curiosity. Your guess is biased shite from start to finish. Not a single part of it is relevant. Giving the name of a ship you served on is hardly personal information. If you are gonna try and have a dig randomly ffs up your game lad.

Not today but last wk, fitted a new hydraulic to tractor and finally splashed out on a new timber grab, totally transformed the whole outfit, lifts better and grips logs better, had 4 days extracting with it and loved every minuet of it,,

That's just beautiful, I can remember when rows of them would be lined up outside various venues, before taking off somewhere for the customary "burn up" there was one I knew with the DBD34 and rrt2 box, it was real nice and fast too, but he got quite a bit of stick for "ruining a Goldie"

π€·ββοΈAll that effort and still not a single name just a list of random places and shite bit like you bragging about your shooting exploits.

Like this one,, one of the first Norton widelines 1954 fitted with a 1953 all alloy triumph tiger 100 motor and box, mate has one but a bit different than mine, 1958 wideline with a modern triumph 955i motor fitted and he says its good for 150mph but dernt take it any further,,
