Investigation launched as migrant boat ‘reaches Kent coast’ without being intercepted APPLE.NEWS Five people were detained in a village north of Dover, it was reported Border farce more like it. Seeing that the French have said they will no longer attempt to stop illegals I’d say the invasion will only gather momentum.

Pretty good vid. I thought he was taking a few chances with big swings over the roof, but the camera can be deceptive. The log he roped off took a pretty wild swing, I’d probably have put a tagline on that and let it out slowly, but different strokes and all that.

I’ve always had a weird mental blindspot for sequences. I didn’t know the months of the year in order until I realised at about sixteen that everyone else knew them and I was a mong. Similarly I can’t work out my age from my birth date without really concentrating because of the year tripovers. I changed Sailor’s date of birth to 1st January 2022 to make it simpler. I must also be running low on storage and deleting/archiving things I think aren’t important because I forget trivial shit like my age but snap into sharp focus and can tell you the VAT treatment of gingerbreadmen or anything else that interests me.

There are people on here with way more knowledge than me about such matters, but from those pictures, I would have been firing up a saw immediately. They're some of the ugliest specimens I have seen, and at that size, I wouldn't have any qualms about removing them. When I worked for a builder friend, the building control officer in one area was absolutely petrified of Leylandii. If he saw one anywhere near, the footings had to be bigger/deeper. Once upon a time, a neighbour rang and asked me to fell the oak tree near his mother's house, as it had been deemed responsible for cracking/subsidence. I refused, and told him that the oak tree wasn't the culprit. He replied that he knew it was the big Willow, I knew it was the willow, but the insurance man said it was the oak, and it needed to be felled for the payout.

Sorry, mark wasn't referring to yourself but I remember an puppet of a house holder somewhere up country who use a ground saw at neck hight and guess what happend . Then the rest of us have more qualifications and legislation to follow

Most structural engineers don't know much why it comes to trees , I once argued with building control about a tree 50ft away from footings being pulled in greensand, he was trying to suggest footings a 16ft Leyland would cause issues , when challenged about it they use a guide from nhbc that's not based on tree species or types of soil/rock below ground level , So really a load of bollocks . Ive also heard of this crap take a 1/3rd off it per year before the trees gone. I'd suggest talk to your house insurance, ultimately if it goes wrong they will foot the bill, also they might suggest they aren't that bothered about tree removal because they deem it far enough away from the house or might stipulate otherwise . Ive had the miss pleasure of dealing with structural engineers in other disciplines they aren't that bright. Ever thought about a professional tree surveyors report ? Might be a bit more in depth than a structural engineer and more relevant.

On a job today I spotted some Ganoderma brackets on a medium sized oak so had a prod about in the cavity between the buttresses. A few minutes later I spotted this crawling across the lawn about 10’ from the tree. Never seen anything like it! IMG_1654.mov IMG_1657.mov

Corrected with italics. Team effort with the gods I reckon, made by a committee.

Quite different from my experiences of A&E - usually been seen reasonably quickly, though I go with the expectation of at least a 1 hour wait, and after care has been really good so far when we have needed it. ... we did get refused treatment once.. but that was because the surgeon knew where we lived, told us to go back home because there was a much more competent surgeon here who would do the job a lot better... we did... drove home, reported to local hospital at midnight, told to be back for 9 am, in and out and in recovery bed by 1, with easter eggs courtesy of the local bikers.

So add yourself to the tip sites, that is a good start if you haven't already. A couple of pointers: Great, yes am sure we can all tip there.. if we know where here is... We could of course give you a call... no we can't, email instead? err, cannot do that either.... But first off register as tip site. Note that most established firms will have somewhere to get rid of their waste sorted, most likely those that use tip sites are away from their home area and want somewhere local to tip to save an hour or 2 round trip.. so you won't get a call every week. Be flexible with what you can take. Split and dried logs tipped are never going to happen but 25kg lumps of wood are more likely if you can cut, split and dry them yourself (assuming this is for firewood)

especially this summer - my place was underpinned years ago before I bought it, and after the long hot summer this year a few weeks ago my front door started rubbing on the frame in the top left corner, had to shove it shut. Now we've had some rain (to expand the soil and jack it back up again) the door isn't rubbing
