    Jokes???

The beach boys walk into a bar. Round? Round? Get a round? I'll get a round.

I've always used a screen protector, made of Gorilla Glass, (whatever that is), or similar. Always works a treat. You barely notice it's on there, certainly doesn't effect screen functionality.
  5. It's not so much our computer scientists, (irrespective of their name or immigration status), as the big tech American companies that they'll work for, that I worry about. Do you trust them to put the safety of ordinary hardworking people just trying to get on in life, above profit? I don't.
  6. The screen on this works pretty well.

    Driveway

Driveway in Poringland. Looking for reasonable quality wood that you need to get rid of that I can then process into firewood. Happy to pay whatever is reasonable.
  8. You're quite right. Could be either. I'm not sure why I was so certain. So, Steven. Am I a clarifier or a meddler?
  9. GarethM

    Phone cases

Definitely the rubber cases from Spigen, plus whatever glass screen protectors are on offer on Amazon as they're disposable maybe a couple a year as mine gets plenty of abuse.
  10. I took Steven's quote to mean - stop people leaving in the first place (leave from poor (e.g Mexico, Venezuela and travel to rich (US). Regardless of what SP meant - Trump has sorted that one thing, for now. Maybe only a temporary fix, but even the Earth is temporary over a long timespan.
  11. That one you've linked looks like it would be horrendous.
  12. I've always used the spigen screen protectors from again. They're the only ones I've found that actually work with your thumb print

Provide... Does the screen side of these actually work? Or do you end up pawing at a screen that doesn't detect your finger or does so spazzily like when they get wet?
  14. A very good friend of mine is a very keen chainsaw expert and enthusiast. I would like to source an Alpina A120 for him and - not knowing much of anything about chainsaws - I have no idea where to start. I’d be very grateful indeed for any help or information on where and how to acquire one. Many thanks. Gavin Acheson.

  16. Steven was talking about people leaving the rich nations, leaving behind jobs that somebody needs to do, which attracts people from other countries to come to the rich countries to do those jobs. Example: Edmund leaves his job as a butler to go to Nepal, where he intends to live as a goat. George, Edmund's former employer, now needs a new butler. Abdul, who has recently washed up on the beach at Folkestone in a large bottle, becomes George's new butler. You were talking about how to make Abdul stay in his home country in the first place.
  17. sorry - your posts are normally coherent and intelligent, but you've lost me here. I was highlighting Trump's success at stopping illegals at the southern border. How many of those arriving at the border are from Denmark, UK, Australia, Singapore?
  18. He meant people leaving the rich nations.
  19. Opinion | I left the Tommy Robinson rally with the worrying realisation: this movement is only going to get bigger APPLE.NEWS Some in Whitehall were aggressive, some openly racist – but more still felt this far-right gathering was the... 100% Correct. From the Guardian of all outlets.
  20. ok his parents are Born 27 July 1976 (age 49)[4] London, England[4]
  21. need to work out how to stop people leaving in the first place - Trump has done this by making them realize there's no point leaving their home country to make their way to the southern border, because they will be removed immediately. Yes if the Democrats get in and decide to open the floodgates there will be, perhaps not half the world's poor, but as many as can make the journey. Tens of millions from south america alone. To address this thing besmirching Trump for associating with Epstein - all I've seen of Epstein's conviction is for soliciting sex with a minor - can you show us some news stories where you read about just how bad a child rapist Epstein was? I'm sure you said something like he raped 12 year olds? Have you actually read news reports that specifically mention the ages of girls and that he was prosecuted for raping them? So rather than constant accusations - how about compile your references? I don't know either way, but you seem to think you know the ins and outs (poor phrasing) of Epstein's crimes in great detail.
  22. You'll be heartened to hear that our new type 26 frigates are being built on Clydeside.
  23. Immigrant alert!
  24. please post a photo. If you want everything as original spec that's fine, but if you are happy to go off piste, you can make Vermiculte panels fit anywhere. A lot of modern stoves have Vermiculte top baffles as well as the sides. I use trial and error and pieces of cardboard to make a template for the vermiculite.
  25. there's no reason some of our computer scientists can't continue to lead on AI we need both heavy industry and emerging technologies, obviously industry is more labour intesive, providing more jobs, but welding etc will become increasingly robotised. Sir Demis Hassabis (born 27 July 1976) is a British artificial intelligence (AI) researcher and entrepreneur. He is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Google DeepMind[8] and Isomorphic Labs,[9][10][11] and a UK Government AI Adviser.[12] In 2024, Hassabis and John M. Jumper were jointly awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their AI research contributions for protein structure prediction.[13][14]
