Morning, we’ve about 3’’ of snow! Pita but the kids will love it for sledging since it half term. Lurgie wasn’t too bad yesterday. After joking about working Robo from the mini digger I tried it yesterday after freezing my arse off for an hour. It wasn’t perfect but it was warm 😂 boys are off subbing to a mate for the next 2 weeks and my youngest lads there for 3 days, nice wee nature job with bonfires on wriggly tin so good for them to get that type of job, they’ve been Rhoddy bashing for 2 weeks so they deserve a chill job. I’m off to look at some work and ease into a couple of weeks of helping the good lady more with the wee 1 through the day. Have a good day.

Fir logs can be a bit hit and miss depending on how long they’ve been down. If they’re still solid and not too wet, they’ll burn fine once seasoned, just won’t give you the same heat as hardwood. I’d split them sooner rather than later to help them dry out properly. Left in rounds too long and they can start going soft pretty quickly.

My best mate left army four years back, started as sapper at 18 and ended up warrant officer first class. He was diagnosed as being neurodiverse 2years after leaving . Though technically, you don't -actually- need P.L. insurance(!), but the much more expensive E.L. is compulsory, if you ever have any subcontractors or employed staff, etc. Having spoken with an expert witness who specialises in arb/forestry court claim assessments, I have to say I'm under no illusions that most of us (insured parties) will find a sharp and financially painful reality bites us, with our first claim -I doubt I, or many of us would happily survive a 3rd party's cross examination in a court.. Limited liability isn't without it's attractions at times.. 🤔

If you own/use a Black S2. 630 or Black SX2 800 cone splitter how do you get on with it , what size “knotty, twisted grain , hard wood “, trunks ( say 2.4mtrs long)can you comfortably split with it , please specify which model you are using. I ask as considering buying one. I would be hiring in a 5 or 8 tonne 360 to use it on . Many thanks for any info.
