Same here - sat in the truck with the engine running and the heating on. Battery heated gloves are helping but with all the meds since my heart problems my circulation seems to be worse than ever. Glad the younger lads are stepping up and taking more responsibility 👍

Agreed Had the same machine for a while now, done a few mods, welded up a couple of tables either side of the main beam to stack a few pieces on, converted to single handed operation. I’ve a 14hp B&S unit and two stage pump from an old hydraulic pack that I’m tempted to fit to try increasing ram speed but in reality that single handed spool valve I fitted saves so much time and in some respects steady is safe. Tows fine I’ve found as long as you don’t hit the motorway and stay sensible.

Mine hasnt been modified but i use it 1 handed no problem , i keep my right hip on 1 handle

Honeys and Gustharts are excellent, but I use Skyland whenever possible. Great visibility of stock levels, and very often next day delivery. I ordered 2 pairs of Pfanner ice grip gloves this afternoon after having cold hands this morning, and they will be here 9.30-12.30 tomorrow.

I've got the rock venom 35t pro elite. It gets through anything and almost anything with the 4 way head. I've never used the 22t, but I wouldn't want it less powerful if you plan on using a 4 way head to speed things up. So far good service from rock, splitter tows fine although obviously a speed restriction. So far reliable (2 years old). Only complaints, wish the ram was quicker and single hand operation would be nice, although not rocks fault due to H&S legislation. All in all, imo it's a great bit of kit for the money.

I mostly use Gustharts now to be honest, they seem pretty straightforward.

Thought as much, this is replanting a new woodland after clear felling ash plantations. Might go in at over double and see if it comes off. What do you reckon a man should aim to put in in a day with that set up? Am I wrong in thinking even 200 whips with tall guard, stake and zip tie is even quite a lot?

Evening all, I'm looking at a change in occupation, though I'm currently employed the desk job is killing me and I crave the outdoors. I've been busying myself on my work holidays undertaking my CS30/31/38 - but not 39 yet (there's some logistical complications having done my initial 30/31 actually as the ICC1/2 course rather than with lantra before I found out the 2 similar course providers though practically identical aren't recognised by each other....). In my spare time I've really enjoyed and been climbing, pruning and felling for friends and neighbours (mostly farmers who are happy to get odd jobs done for free/for wood). 2026 brings another 6-8 weeks of holidays and I'll happily take them early on getting some experience helping out a local firm preferably around Cumbria. So if any one wants a free groundsman, or climber with his own kit for a few weeks here or there, in return I can get some experience of what doing tree work for a living looks like rather than for fun before I finally take the plunge and make the switch full time please get in touch.

Based down on the arse end of Somerset we are not exactly spoilt for choice when it comes to arborist supplies so most of it comes from the internet. I predominantly used tree kit which and occasionally honeys. Well obviously tree kit has been amalgamated into honeys since sheril took over the reigns. Used to be free delivery, Iirc, now you pay, not a problem but it always takes bleddy ages. Ordered something Friday, in-stock apparently, and still not here. Same with the previous order. Anyone else have the same issue or is it postcode discrimination or worse still a personal Vendetta that I am unaware of

Couple of leylandii and laurels Reasonable size garden, big pile of old rotting cuttings at the back. Didnt like my price for removing it, he will burn them and the fresh cuttings. One customer had a saggy gate on the driveway. 3d printed this wheel, works nicely, stops it dragging. Also adjusted the 2511 clone. I know it was running rich and bogging down, so a slight turn of the high jet until the revs picked up a bit, much nicer to use.

Anyone got an Evoque or other Land-rover product that has suspension position sensors? The missus' Evoque had a new wishbone fitted and the drop link to the sensor was bust. I got a new sensor but the drop link seems to be in need of adjustment (cheap kin imported shite) but the fixing the the wishbone is lost! Does it just press fit over a stud or is there a bush or just a bolt? What size thread in to the wishbone? M5, M6, M8?

I had an axle fitted to my 22t venom and now has proper 13in wheels. I just didnt trust those tiny wheels it comes with. I am putting mine on ebay when i get time as im getting to old for bending over splitting logs all day.

I also have the 22t venom. I rate it highly in that it sips petrol, can be used horizontally or upright, and i have never yet found anything it could not get through. Mine has the earlier type of suspension units, and although I have towed it on the road in the past it is a bit lop sided for road use now. I note the newer ones have different suspension.
