  1. Hi, I have recently joined on a hunt for wood to burn at home. We don't have any heating in our house so rely on logs and kindling to keep us warm, and this is set to run out for this year very soon! Please can anyone let me know if they have (or know how to get hold of) any dry logs or kindling. We are based in Nutley, East Sussex. thanks in advance!

Plenty of room for logs and woodchips. Some brash if it is clean and of reasonable quality. Hardwood logs and woodchippings greatly appreciated and I am prepared to provide some financial recompense (please call to discuss) as I know the address is slightly out of the way for most. Hay and straw also welcome. Can drop in the areas photographed below (the van will not usually be pulled forward in that position, especially if noone is here) but would prefer contact first. I will move the items once dropped.
  11. My log splitter has been faultless until today. I get arb waste and use an electric chainsaw for my own use in a large farm house. I started it up today first time since lockdown and all was going fine until I stopped to move some logs. When I switched it on again it sounded as though the motor was jammed and then it stopped. After moving all the logs in the way I changed the fuse. tried it again but switched off immediately as it sounded jammed still. wondered whether it had a belt drive behind the guard but as you can see there is a hydraulic motor coupled directly to the motor. Any advice would be gratefully received.
  12. Hello all, Can anyone tell me what species of trees these logs come from please? I believe the first (left to right) is Blackthorn and second is Willow. Thank you Andy

  17. We know posting on Arbtalk might mean we are pelted with the odd tomato, but the reason for the new thread is we were looking for feedback from an engaged knowledgeable audience regrading a recent firewood comparison video created. The video shows the burn duration & burn intensity / characteristic to provide consumer insight into what firewood is for them. Hopefully, we have achieved that. Good, bad or indifferent let us know what you think? Firewood Comparison
  18. Hello, Not sure if I'm adding this to the right place. I am about to get my first wood burner installed this month and I am looking to get some good quality seasoned hard wood, locally. Preferably delivered. Does anyone know anywhere/anyone local to the Bury St Edmunds area? And possibly a rough price? Thanks for your help, sorry if this has already been asked (I did search) or if I'm posting in the wrong place.

  21. I am cleaning up my garden from all the snow damage and still have loads of conifers (and laurel) to cut down. I had an issue with taking green waste to our local depot because are vehicle is classed as "commercial" - 4x4 with a cab. We are waiting on a license for this vehicle but are only allowed 6 visits a year with this vehicle to dump waste and it will take more than that. In addition, my brother won't always be around to move the chained sawed trees for me. I cannot afford to bring in chipping services as there is so much to do. Soon as we get through one lot there is more to do. Can anyone advise if there are any tree services companies who would like the wood for free to chip or log? I am in the Newbury area. If this is posted in the wrong section - I apologise. Can repost if there is a more suitable place. With thanks, Kat
