For my backy and lighters and can hold a tin of Monster if things are getting a bit hectic. @Mark Bolam tows well behind my Kangoo. Magnetic lights and my plate cable tied on the back she's good to go... gap is too small for a 3ft lightbar thing from Halfords. And the back axle is actually the hydraulic tank. Was splitting beech yesterday big 2 foot odd rounds 10 inch thick and it didn't flinch... slowed right down when using the 4 way head though but I guess that's only for smaller stuff as it says. Limited to 45 mile per hour on the road but I did hit 70 with it to see what she was like and it was grand but wouldn't like to do that all the time as I think it'd wreck it. Will see how the day rate idea goes for weekend stuff but was thinking 220-240 per day for me, saws and splitting. Hopefully get a few wind blown trees to sort. Surely a lot cheaper than most tree surgeons around, or is it too cheap? Lemme know @Mark Bolam

Splitter has arrived so let's see what comes of it in the next few months. Hopefully a fair bit as a lot of windblow about after sll these storms.

I like the price of that... swivel hook. Gonna give that a google right now. edit. Used them before and they're handy as. Are you better off using dyneema rope on these machinesv? I've heard it can hold a fair amount of weight before breaking

I'm a forestry cutter and looking to take on my own small jobs taking down hung up trees and wind blow etc. Minimal equipment etc and I'm looking at getting a hand winch. Any advice with using one or what to buy will be very much appreciated. Will be used on the odd day and handy for in the van.

And compact enough to hold a buried trampoline in 70mph hour winds until the legs snap... 😂 Does anyone know what trees they are on the right hand side of the photo as well? I know it's a bad photo. I'd keen to plant this wildflower stuff and let it be. Something with a bit of color to go with the purple off tree when it blossoms. Wish it'd stick around a lot longer though... 5 was very much on the cards but I don't want to ruin the cherry tree in my front garden. I think I'll till it and plant the wildflower and see how that goes. When's best to replant this? Any recommendations on a tiller would be handy. It's a small patch of grass yes, but I'd prefer not to break a sweat on my days off. 🤠

I've a 6x6 ish sized front grass area which I've wrecked by filling it with logs, splitting by hand and then covering up with my daughters trampoline which has since blew away 😂 I need something low maintenance and something that looks good. Can't get a year out of them. 4 of us run them at work and they're never out the shop getting full rebuilds. Great to use though Edit. We do use them really hard in brashing, felling oversize sitka etc. Again not knocking the saw or the brand as all I use is 5 series. My 62 is in for warranty work as we speak, running badly. Won't rev high and dies in the cut but had others with the same problem and they don't really know how to sort it so they just rebuild the whole thing. Can't complain really, perfect for us as they do it all under the 2 year warranty. Major selling point for me over a Stihl. Had my 572 rebuilt after 8 months as well, fully seized but I'd put that down to me limiter bashing it all day when I'd first started and not had a clue what I was doing... (still don't) Here's a tree (been many like it) that I've done with the 62/18 inch bar.

Bit of a cold one this week, -10 most mornings. A few photos from the harvester driver. Some not so big outside edge trees pushed in with the John Deere, away from a phone line to a house in the middle of the wood.

Great saws but bloody hell they are weak. Easily the best out of my Huskys to use though. Light and cuts rapid when sharp. What size of bar is he using? And what kind of work is he doing?

I'd guess in a few years the UK will have ran out of hardwood by the way things are going...

Send him my way I'll sharpen them 😂 @Stere I've heard of a cutter that goes brashing and bins his chain when it's dull/never hand files. Or tries to sell them on for cheap.

I do appreciate the concern of me jumping into it but I've got a small idea with the splitter and a bit of work lined up already with it so hopefully more will come of the back of it (someone elses timber/yard). Hopefully word of mouth and all that brings me some more. Even if I don't make a great deal of money I can afford the splitter no problem and it's another piece of kit I have and invested so win win. I've spent well over the 2200 (price of the splitter) on tools for engineering (my last job) and they're pretty much gathering dust in the garage anyways so no big deal. 😂 Not got any other ideas for moving forward other than what's listed above and I hate not having something to aim for. (Forestry woodcutter 5 days a week btw)
