If you’re even charging 1K a day for 4 really good cutters I’d be expecting a massive amount of work done. I know our cutting squad are 900 a day or not far away from that for local work, and I don’t think you’d find much of a better squad around. So for 2 cutters and 2 ‘laborers’ I’d say that is massively steep.

It’s hard to keep it clean when we do what we do, and the fact that the lease is smashed as well 😂 @Dan Maynard I will get one in the future. I’ve had 2 enquiries for it over night for cutting down these and some hung up trees on another property which I’m yet to see. Not ideally what I was looking for on this picture but I’ll do it none the less

Safe small (<380mm) ash removal

I've put over some big ash that had dieback and were fairly rotten. Would never bang wedges in them at all incase the top came out, heard of it happen to a friend of mine. Plus one for roping over. Can you not take out some of the surrounding trees and make a bit of a gap to fell the ash into? Wedging anything small is an utter pain in the arse as well. -
Not long off the phone. 5 mill public and 10 mill employers. 1000 a year, not that bad actually.

I am needing these shortly for a few jobs. Saw and van set up, will be 'employing' a self employed cutter like myself to clear forest roads of wind blow and small fell to waste jobs and hopefully get more work off the back of it. Will be going out working for the main forest management contractors. Where is best to get this type of insurance? And if anyone else is the same kind of set up, how much am I looking to roughly pay for these? Thanks again

My first Husky about two years ago now I used to shut it off every fill by choking it, unknowingly... And it was a twat to start but it is the in thing to do to blame Husky saws having starting issues... I feel like it made me the man I am today

Haix Trekker Mountain 2.0 SKYLANDEQUIPMENT.COM The Haix Trekker is an ideal boot for climbing and forestry work, it is waterproof with a Gore-Tex lining and a class 1... I've a pair of these and they still keep water out for the best part. But I have put the saw through them and had a major falling out with a barb wire fence... They're light too, dunno how well they'd do on the climbing though.

Pfanners. Obviously without the spikes, 5mm leather and a proper made sole that is fixable. Put mine through absolute shite and climbed loads of hills and winch work etc in them and they'll last a good few years I reckon.

I'm on the hunt for a pick up, been driving for ten years or so. No points, nothing. Live in a culdesac, drive way etc and a pretty much low crime area if that makes any difference. And my average quote on a 6-8 year old pick up was bang on a grand on comparison sites. Which is just mental just to drive to site. Looking forward to finding a company that doesn't want to pull my pants down

I am a self employed hand cutter where I could honestly get away with 1-2 saws and a van and a 20 ton jack and wedges. But I tried that for the first 6 months and realised I was getting bored rapidly. So I try to invest my wages back into the job and buy better kit etc which makes it more interesting (hopefully one day some sort of machine). If I were to cut 5 days a week and be tight about it and just do it for the money, I'd more than likely be better of employed doing something else.

I'm no tree climber or tree surgeon but isn't that quite a small tree to climb and rig? Would it not be easily felled into the open space? Genuinely asking and not being cheeky
