  1. This has a lot of long replies that my tired brain cannot understand right now but on the long drive home today I calculated my hourly rate after expenses (not including running costs and maintenance costs if you know what I mean, wear and tear etc). 260 top line for the day. 8.5 hours on the saw. 5 hours driving. 13.5 total. fuel can 5L felling a hillside. easily 6 gallon of diesel. 60 odd quid expenses in fuel for the day. 200 profit. 13.5 hours 14.80 an hour.
  2. How far are we all going for a days work? I’m a commercial cutter so it’s a bit different from tree surgery and it kind of comes with the job, travelling. That being said how far would you say is too far? The sole company I cut for is taking on more and more work up north and it means, like today I’m doing 110 miles to site and then 110 back with 8 hours on the saw. Which I only really do 6 as it ends up a 15 hour day in total if you do/hitting rush hour traffic on way home.
  3. Not sure what money is in what with these things. Never even seen one in the flesh to be fair.
  4. Seen this a few hours ago. Looks like a handy bit of kit…
  5. 461 seems to run well and it’s loud as with that bark box. Seems like it’s got a lot of power. @Pete Mctree the 462 idles quite quickly. I’d be happy to shift them on as they are, maybe clean them up. I’d rather keep the 461 than the 462 though that’s for sure.
  6. It’s the way this forum goes I’d say ha. Did you get on the UK hand cutters page? Se connecter à Facebook WWW.FACEBOOK.COM Connectez-vous à Facebook pour commencer à partager et communiquer avec vos amis, votre famille et les...

  8. Just picked these up. Wondering what they’re worth IMG_5276.mov
  9. I use a 572/372 every day on steep ground and they get heavy after a few hours. Second that on the 550XP. Ripping saws, guys I work with use them for brashing and that’s they’re flat out all day. Get about a year or two out of them in constant use but that’s good going I’d say… Echo 621SX, my felling partner bought one in October. Been in for warranty like 1-2 times. Each time comes back same problem, no real support on them I don’t think… Sits in the back of his van now doing nothing
  10. Cheers Doug. Should I put milk and 2 on there?
  11. 2 hours since I posted this topic and it’s fair to say this has been 100 percent fully derailed. Good work men
  12. Don ah gee. There’s a million ways to pronounce it 😂
  13. Seems like a good bit of kit that!
  14. Try and pronounce it and see if you get it right… If you do get it right, I’ll send you fiver… Might VAT reg name is JD Forestry/invoice name as well… Any suggestions for the name would be taken into consideration as I’m well aware ‘Initials Forestry/Tree service’ is pretty common and basic… I am a complete donut when it comes to marketing on the Internet though for sure so any help is gonna be appreciated
  15. My friend uses it and they looked all right like! When was the last time you used it? I’m sure his were like 50 quid for like something daft like 500 of them…
  16. To be fair I could always do a double sided card with that flyer… Maybe change the pictures about a bit to something a bit simpler as it’d be very small
  17. Aye I’d never fell anything in a garden to be fair would always get a climber as it’d be an absolute nightmare. My work mate has felled pine trees between a garage and a house recently and they were that small either and it worked out for him but I’d never attempt that.
  18. Aye you are right. I know plenty of climbers to call on if needed if it needs it.
  19. Hey. Going to make business cards to follow up with this flyer as I now see the importance of it. Vistaprint seems pretty cheap for a couple hundred of them. I need to make a logo and make it clear as to what I do and not come across as a tree surgeon as I’m not a climber. Anyways. Where’s best to make a company logo?
  20. Surely you can’t be expected to run a saw, van and all your own kit for anything less than 200. I get more than that and don’t even think it’s enough at times!
  21. UK Hand Cutters page on Facebook? A lot of Scottish on there but the odd English as well I think. Wish we had forestry like you have down south. Surely the rates for a 8 hour day will be 200+. @Stere
  22. If it’s out of warranty it’s a major gamble lads…
  23. Has someone been watching a little too much Buckin Billy Ray last night
  24. Got this for sale in the Scottish Borders. Massively underrated saw. I’ve probably cut a good… 20 odd lorry loads of hardwood with a 24/28 inch bar (double cutting some of it). Never misses a beat until I had to put a new carb on it through warranty. Ran on that XP expensive Husky oil. This saw you literally just need to touch the throttle and it is revving right up and pulls into the wood. Word of advice is always check your chain if you do buy a bigger saw. This 585 will cut fine with a chain with the points off the cutters so I always check mines to make sure I’m always sharp as it’s decieving. Only selling because it’s too big and heavy for softwood felling that I do, and carrying it up hills is a pain. Slavor over… back to felling some stinking spruce
  25. More milk and porridge in the morning and grow into the tape
