  1. I only ever order in stock stuff. If a supplier could say with certainty when an item would be in stock, that would be ok, but half the time i suspect they just say anything to try to get the order.. Would rather pay more for an in stock item than wait.. Also, some firms use completely shit carriers. The ones where they tell you the time the thing is coming and you can track where the van is, I would DEFINITELY, GLADLY, pay more for that service everytime.. john..
  2. Have they not installed the stove leaning backwards??? Or have they bent the outlet over, as i presume that it is meant to be vertical?? What i mean is, if the stove is on a flat surface, then surely the top of the outlet should be lever and not tilted back?? john..
  3. Yep... Same as car oil is now shit [which is why it will wreck your motorbike] and lots of makers or various stuff tell you NOT to use motorboat oil which the motorboat makers will tell you is fine.. Having said that, i just use whatever the makers tell me to use, as i just rely on the fact that they know better than me.. [and the oil makers] john
  4. The breaking strain of the rope may well be 6000, but the SWL will only be about 1200 john
  5. Maybe... If you use the top strap that is supplied with the RC2000, it might as well be a bollard.. You can also pretension and lift off it too. The thing is also idiot proof, as i manage to use it ok!!!
  6. Google "Stein 3 rigging kit" I have one and think the RC2000 is really great, The pulley that comes with the set is a bit huge, so i have a smaller one too. The slings and rope are all lovely though!! Here you go!! Rigging Set S3 - RC2000 Version WWW.STEINWORLDWIDE.COM Rigging Set S3 - RC2000 Version This Rigging Bag contains the minimum components to assemble a configured rigging system. Due to the mass... john..
  7. The RC2000 uses a 24 mm sling and you will also need the webbing strap device thingy to hold it upright.. john..
  8. You say you started to put in extra oil.. This can cause the thing to run weak and overheat as more oil does TWO things. 1, weakens the mixture [as less petrol] and 2, lowers the octane of the fuel so the thing tends to pink.. Lack of lubrication would cause scoring all round the piston.. Scoreing just by the exhaust is overheating.. john..
  9. Husqvarna do a complete set of the chaps, and a helmet complete with ear and eye protection and a lovely pair of gloves all for about £100 i think it is.. john..
  10. Evem better, go down the garage and buy yourself some nice fresh unleaded. Go outside and pour our half a pint into a clear glass bowl. Come back half hour later... See how it has gone cloudy?? That is the water it has absored from the air.. I have had to do with a few machines [nto mine] in the last few months that would not start. Owners all insisted it was NOT the fuel and that the fuel had only been in there "a week or so" Tip out the fuel, in with the new, and the machine starts up.. john..

    Past it???

No, but the OP came on asking for ideas, as he said."(not necessarily climbing work, maybe something auxiliary like stump grinding?" I merely pointed out that creeping around after bats would possibly be a good idea, which it is.. Got any better ones?? john..

    Past it???

I never claimed i was an ecology expert or any other kind of expert.. Do not even want to be TBH. The OP came on and asked for business ideas related to trees, so i came up with a very good one.. Problem with that?? john..

    Past it???

Hi Jon, Thank you very much for your advice.. On the electician forums you get loads of people that have spent thousands to be "Part "P" qualified" only there is no such thing, part "P" is a building reg, nothing to do with you being an "electrician" Similar sort of thing i guess?? john..

    Past it???

Hi There. What are all these lantra one day course things for then?? I was thinking of doing one, just because i can really, but are you saying they are pointless [a bit like all the give us 7K and you will be an electrician in 3 weeks nonsense??] john..

    Past it???

Ok, if it were me, i would forget all about working on trees. Get yourself the licences to inspect for bats and then you will be able to rob people blind to inform them nope, not a bat in sight, never saw one, but this is the sort of tree/building/etc they like, so you can kiss your planning bye bye unless you pay me to come here every few months for years on end when i "might" say it is ok.. john..
  18. I have some HAIX boots and they are great.. john..
  19. I know Echo tell you to grease the bearing. Other makers may differ... john...
  20. Hi Sutton, Thank you for your constructive reply. I should not have said not the brightest, and i apologise for that. I must admit, i wish i had a merest FRACTION of your knowledge regarding trees and things of that nature.. I do not seek to go on about what i do at all. I was asked to sort the tree and i assumed in had a TPO as many of ours do. Later on though, i checked my map, and it turns out it has not, but i checked with works to make sure. I will be honest, i have been meaning to sort if for a while, but last week a ward manager asked me to get it done, as they act as risk assessors in matters of this kind, as do the health care inspectorate who come along and make a nuisance of themselves.. I merely though that i would explain a bit about hospitals for those that might be interested in the context of the problem.. I will take your advice, and thank you very much for sharing it with me, and i TRULY mean that.. john..
  21. Not the brightest eh... [But think you know it all] Hanging yourself requires VERY little force.. As it happens.. Immediate death following attempted suicide by hanging may occur in one of three ways: · Mechanical constriction of the neck structures (asphyxia; venous occlusion or arterial occlusion). Only 2 kg of pressure is needed to block the jugular veins, arterial occlusion requires 2.3–30.0 kg. About 15 kg of pressure is required to obstruct the trachea. · Cardiac arrest, possibly facilitated by pressure on the carotid sinus and its effects on vasoactive centres. · Injury of spinal cord and brain stem. Fractures of the cervical spine are, however, very rare in suicidal hanging because the drop before tension on the noose is achieved is usually minimal. So, you go get yourself a single green twig, say 3/8" diameter, catch hold of each end and try to pull it apart. You got precisely no chance.. john..
  22. Turns out the tree does NOT have a TPO anyway.. As to how long has it been a risk woithout incident, about a year i suppose, not the hospitals fault if trees tend to grow. john..
