  1. Boss - Ok that's great news, then you won't mind doing a drugs test (available at chemists or online) Subbie - Errrrr
  2. Is the tree too rotten to be craned out? Also am I right in thinking you are not allowed to ride the crane hook?
  3. Yeah, I've recently been quoted just under £7K Including vat. So same as 👆
  4. It's been mentioned before that drivers are worse since lockdown and more road rage? Personally I don't see it but I'm not in the rat race anymore.
  5. I was thinking the same thing but price and weight go up, but I guess it's better than the current B & S situation!
  6. To get it to pour quicker and not glug (air in/fuel out) you need to let air in somewhere else. If it already has a vented spout then it is a bit odd that you are having issues. I had a quick google and found these. They are listed for a 5 gallon can but I've never used used them so can't tell you how well it would work. Drilling holes in your new cans is a risk! I would check the vent is free from blockage first. 7. Hi, I was going to say 'the best way to stop someone stealing your TW chipper is to paint it black and put Forst stickers on it!' But that would just be childish. I use a tow ball lock, there are never going to stop a determined thief but they are cheap, small and might just stop an opportunist making off with it.
  8. Hi All, Anyone have any recommendations for where to send Timberwolf Chipper blades for sharpening. thanks in advance.
  9. It would be usual business practice to pay him once you have received an invoice. My guess is he probably won't be working for you once he realises it's not a untraceable cash payment.
  10. WHAT = 4 Letters OCCASIONALLY = 12 Letters ALWAYS = 6 Letters NEVER = 5 Letters Sorry if that was obvious
  11. Unless it is a very small prune I would have thought it is still too early, I'm ready to be corrected but another month or two at least. I've been asked to look after a sicklie cherry, it looks like it was savagely reduced last year and suffered from drought, greenfly and white fly. It is covered in last years suckers and water sprouts. So I started by watering, fertilising and mulching the base but wasn't sure if it is better to remove epicormic growth now to stop the tree wasting energy on it but encouraging further infection. Or leave them until later in the season when the risk to open wounds is less? Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks
  12. Nah can't be. Germans don't know what a cubic inch is I haven't looked too hard but I can't see any logic like the Husky system. Just the bigger the first number the larger category/cc the saw Also m = Mtronic, w = heated handles etc
  13. HI, If your budget will stretch the MS400 is an amazing Pro saw, light and powerful. It will sit nicely with your current saws, pulls an 18" or 20" easily and won't knacker you if you're using it for a long day. The only problem might be there are not too many second hand ones about.
  14. Hi, When I first saw this post I thought it was a troll but I'll give it a go anyways. I'm not one of the legions of doomsayers but have a couple of points. If you're running a sub optimal bar then keeping a sharp chain is a must, you're logging on the ground so keep the bar out of the dirt. I'm 6'2" and prefer to use a saw horse so cuts are easier and cleaner. Trying to guide the tip of a long bar through a log on the floor is a pain, so is cutting 80% then rolling to finish off. Your set up might be different but the logs need to be moved at some point, so on to horse first then stack for splitting? Also why not just get the right tool for the job? Use your bar and chain money and sell/trade your 50cc for a 70/80cc with a 24" fitted, it will be a much more pleasant experience. But it's your money and your saw so how you cut your logs is up to you.
  15. Ok thanks. What is the best white fly treatment or is it just to reduce stress by water and feed/mulch etc? thanks
  16. Hi, I came across this cherry plum and couldn't work out what the issue is. Loads of white flecks on all leaves and branches. I thought it was white fly but they are not moving. Has some greenfly too. Looks like it is drought stressed, the tree has had membrane and shingle underneath!
  17. It is shocking that this is almost just accepted. Long ago I worked for a car dealership and was involved with delivering and collecting display cars from Country Shows and events. I was amazed that over the weekend the cars were pillaged of anything possible, floor mats/handbooks/locking wheel nut keys/boot nets/gearknobs. Theft and the prevention of is a big topic on this forum, it looks like it will continue to be!
  18. I generally do smaller domestic work and I would say only one in five want a stump removed. Usually because fence posts are going in or some building work. Most people don't want the expense or don't care and put a plant pot on it. To reply to the initial post, could it be that when tree surgeons were really busy and were stacked out with creamy work the grind was just a pain. It was easier to sub it out and get to the next job. Now things are slowing down they aren't able to be so fussy and take the job on. Personally I don't mind stump grinding, it makes a change and I feel I've finished the removal properly once it is raked and seeded. As previously mentioned. the conversations with clients regarding stumps usually goes 'would you like me to price for removing the stump' 'no, if it's extra can you leave it high so we can make a bee hotel/bird table/carving' By the time you have done the job they have had second thoughts and want it taken down!
  19. I wouldn't have got close either!
  20. It makes no sense but it looks more like marine life. Seapork? Aplidium californicum - Wikipedia EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG
  21. Hi, have you looked into some of the scan devices and software that is available? There is a lot of help out there from scan to pdf & scan to read aloud. If you read a lot it might be worth investing or contacting Dyslexia charities to see what assistance they recommend? I just had quick Google and this kind of stuff came up: IRIS - Digital tools for kids with dyslexia WWW.IRISLINK.COM Our philosophy: Soothe - Organize - Compensate I hope you can find a solution.
  22. If only they made a corded electric chainsaw! 🙄
  23. It looks like there is a bit of a pattern. Eucs not handling our on/off winter?
  24. Correct me if I am wrong but I think there is more involved than just paying your wife £12,500 per year. I was told years ago to set up a Limited Company by an accountant and work it as per your example. More recently the same accountant had clients pulled in by HMRC to discuss what work exactly their wife did for the company. There were looking for proof of 16-20 hours work per week from the spouse. He was now advising much more caution with Ltd Company set up. Don't take this as gospel and as always use a reputable accountant for financial advise. I hear loads of advice from mates/bloke down the pub with, I always claim for xxxxxx etc and i'v never had a problem, which is all fine until you have an audit.
  25. When I'm pricing a job I always enjoy a game of 'guess what the previous guy used?' You can normally tell how long there step ladder was as they never remove any difficult branches on the neighbours side!!
