  1. Hi, Every area is different but the feedback I get is that there is still a market for domestic tree work if you are:- professional, polite, turn up as promised, and reasonably priced (definitely no need to be cheapest) if someone is ringing every arbish person to get quotes then you give your price and walk away. You could always sub in help/machines as needed. I fully understand if this isn't for you but it would allow you get away from full time climbing and potentially give you a better balance. Have you thought about getting involved with Arb training? You would stay in the industry and could still subbie climb. Talk to your local training centres for requirements/opportunities? Or... check out your local councils planning dept for tree officer positions? You have loads of experience to offer and young enough to change direction. Just few things that came to mind, hope it works out for you. Gordon
  2. I thought rope access was for pussies! just keep tying triple extension ladders together until you get to the top If you are going new school wear motorcycle leathers!
  3. Close but no aspect ratio is 82 but generally uses 80. (205 80 16) The 'C' denotes commercial so no car tyres. Find a local tyre dealer, they will make sure you get the correct tyres and see if they will match blackcircles.com prices. If you end up with the incorrect load index or ply rating you can fail your mot or worse.
  4. It might have been 7 T when it was soaking wet 😀
  5. If you have the budget these are really good. Check the compatibility first. PETZL - Swivel Open - Honey Brothers HONEYBROS.COM PETZL - Swivel Open from Honey Brothers. The largest equipment specialist in the tree care industry.
  6. Hi all, I was about to order a new set of blades for my TW125 and have always used genuine Timberwolf in the past. I've just realised Rotatech are half the price. Am I being stupid changing to Rotatech, or stupid not to?
  7. True 🤥 👍 Happens all the time!

    Air Spade

    Arboraeration I think?
  9. Hi, If that is how they have left it then it does look odd, are they doing any further work. The issue is that as it has been left to get so big that a smaller (snip the ends) reduction wouldn't look much different and would be really expensive due to the amount of work/equipment involved. My big question would be, 'what the hell happened to your garden?!? Am I missing something? The tree would be the least of my worries.
  10. I really hope you get your issue sorted and the dealer offers a solution, as a good customer hopefully they will give you a resolution. Ref Arbtalk - you asked for input in your first message! You shouldn't be surprised you got it!
  11. Is it like when you were caught eating sweets in class? The teacher makes you share them out!
  12. Deff walk away at £2000! What are they doing with the brash/wood, are they suppose to get a chipper in and arisings out for that too?
  13. Luckily as long as this guy is a genuine subbie then this won't be the case.
  14. There are loads of test kits out there from Boots, Superdrug, Amazon etc. Hair, mouth swab or piss test for most common recreational drugs. If you had just cause to suspect someone and they denied it this could be an easy solution. Also if you offered to get the police involved to clarify things then their reaction should tell you all you need to know. If it's a genuine error (Lemsip/powdered milk) then they will have no resistance to a test and you can get back to work. Funnily enough I was talking to one of the football dads from my sons team yesterday and he said drug use is so rife offshore that he has refused to continue with rope access because he doesn't trust any of the would be rescuers if he got in trouble. I said arn't there random tests and he said because staff are so hard to come by they dare not do any!! https://www.superdrug.com/health/home-testing-kits/selfcheck-multi-drug-test-kit/p/782430
  15. Boss - Ok that's great news, then you won't mind doing a drugs test (available at chemists or online) Subbie - Errrrr
  16. Is the tree too rotten to be craned out? Also am I right in thinking you are not allowed to ride the crane hook?
  17. Yeah, I've recently been quoted just under £7K Including vat. So same as 👆
  18. It's been mentioned before that drivers are worse since lockdown and more road rage? Personally I don't see it but I'm not in the rat race anymore.
  19. I was thinking the same thing but price and weight go up, but I guess it's better than the current B & S situation!
  20. To get it to pour quicker and not glug (air in/fuel out) you need to let air in somewhere else. If it already has a vented spout then it is a bit odd that you are having issues. I had a quick google and found these. They are listed for a 5 gallon can but I've never used used them so can't tell you how well it would work. Drilling holes in your new cans is a risk! I would check the vent is free from blockage first. 21. Hi, I was going to say 'the best way to stop someone stealing your TW chipper is to paint it black and put Forst stickers on it!' But that would just be childish. I use a tow ball lock, there are never going to stop a determined thief but they are cheap, small and might just stop an opportunist making off with it.
  22. Hi All, Anyone have any recommendations for where to send Timberwolf Chipper blades for sharpening. thanks in advance.
  23. It would be usual business practice to pay him once you have received an invoice. My guess is he probably won't be working for you once he realises it's not a untraceable cash payment.
  24. WHAT = 4 Letters OCCASIONALLY = 12 Letters ALWAYS = 6 Letters NEVER = 5 Letters Sorry if that was obvious
  25. Unless it is a very small prune I would have thought it is still too early, I'm ready to be corrected but another month or two at least. I've been asked to look after a sicklie cherry, it looks like it was savagely reduced last year and suffered from drought, greenfly and white fly. It is covered in last years suckers and water sprouts. So I started by watering, fertilising and mulching the base but wasn't sure if it is better to remove epicormic growth now to stop the tree wasting energy on it but encouraging further infection. Or leave them until later in the season when the risk to open wounds is less? Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks
