  1. It depends what you mean by ground worker. Someone with a couple of tickets who drags brash and feeds a chipper is only unskilled labour. Someone you trust with your rigging is much more valuable.
  2. Any money I've saved not going shopping has been more than balanced away by my new Amazon addiction.
  3. I'm not sure you've got the hang of this 'positive comments only' thread. 😉 Although I retired from climbing, I'm a long way off being retired. I'm an opportunist, and this opportunity is worth grabbing with both hands. Whilst I feel for those less fortunate, I've worked bloody hard to be in the position in which I find myself now, so make no apologies for the privileged position in which I find myself during this 'situation'.
  4. I sometimes chuck an old coat over the 550xp even when I leave it in the garage. I don't think I'd be able to sleep if I left it in the woods.
  5. 2020 was the best year of my life. Income increased massively. I work from home, and so does my Mrs so we shared the office and the childcare. Our girls are 2 and 4 so they don't go to school yet. We have a decent sized garden so spent a lot of time messing about outside. I didn't go shopping once. I didn't have to see people I'd rather not see, and didn't even need an excuse. More lock downs, bring it on.
  6. I'm just playing at it now. As I think I mentioned, I retired from climbing in about 2006 and sold the business in 2010. My climbing these days is for clients for whom I've looked after trees and gardens for years. I don't have to price to get the work, they want me to do it regardless of what it costs or how long it takes. I'd never compete with a lot of the guys on here if I had to actually 'earn' the money.
  7. Yep, I know how it works. Just thought I'd clarify anyway.
  8. Nope. I don't have a truck or a chipper these days.
  9. Just me, simple climbing kit and a couple of saws. I don't really get involved in anything that would need much in the way of rigging these days. Edit. I should have mentioned, the 384 includes VAT.
  10. Hailo for me too. I think I bought mine from Screwfix some years ago.
  11. https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/search?query=4 pints milk
  12. When I retired from climbing in about 2008 my day rate was £275. I still do the odd bit as an excuse to keep my kit but now my day rate is £384. I'm in the south of England.
  13. Yep, always been like that. The standard sized bottles are 1, 2, 4 and 6 pints I think.
  14. One of the tests for an action of passing off is whether or not someone is likely to confuse the businesses. If you've had a review because someone mistook your business for the other, you are half way to proving your case already.
  15. In the first instance, get your solicitor to send a 'cease and desist' letter and see what happens.
  16. I'm working on a similar project myself (albeit on a smaller scale) and can't quite bring myself to have the closed side facing the prevailing wind as here that's from the SW and will also block a lot of sunshine getting on the logs. Does this really matter, or is rain protection and airflow the name of the game?
