    An easy one

Great work indeed. What boots are you using? Did you have the whole tree prepared with the speed line before you got going fully or did you do it bit by bit?
  2. A good selection there. Thanks for sharing. I will have a good look through and see which ones I can name and study those that I don't know. Fungi is a very interesting subject, I have to agree.
  3. Hi David, Interesting to see. At the time before felling was there any specific testing done on that tree? Just wondered if you were able to know what degree of decay was already underway or was it just too risky due to the obvious fungal brackets on the outside?
  4. No real way of telling from that picture. In the desiccated state that it is. Though it may have been Grifola frondosa species by the colour of what remains.
  5. The Canadians are nesting, well one pair are. Whooper swans are thinking about it and most of the mallards are out nesting somewhere around the estate. Will put up some photos when things get going. The drakes are all grouped together waiting with bated breath......
  6. Were you filming that with a drone? Silly question but thought I should ask.
  7. A few older brackets noted over the last few weeks.
  8. Nice Cedar though. any other shots of the fungi you were able to get? Be good to see a little more of it.
  9. A nice selection there. I will take note and keep for record. Thanks David.
  10. Any other pictures of the fungi? From that angle, the cut looks a little dodgy.
  11. Have used battery top handle saw, pretty good battery power and definitely lasts an afternoon of cuts, have a long reach cutter battery, both husqvarana. Out in the country, so getting fuel can sometimes be a pain, therefore battery does me good from that perspective. Have yet to see a big chainsaw on the market battery wise, got an old Husqvarana 365sp petrol, don't know if battery has the same power.
  12. Just finished cutting up a mature pine that came down in South East area yesterday in the strong winds. Pine had a bracket growing up it just below where it snapped and fell, hollowing trunk and ivy growing inside it. But still full of life on top. Until yesterday.... Bits and pieces all over the estate after winds of about 45mph down here.
  13. I'm thinking two possibilities, but not the expert either so may be leading you down the garden path. Either Inonotus species or otherwise and who knows, but worth a guess; Daedaleopsis species. However David Humphries is the expert on this matter.
  14. Mr Humphries got there first. I was going to say Ganoderma species or Fomes, but looks more like Ganorderma as he says. What is the future of this tree?
  15. Well looks like a nice part of the world. Never been that way. Have heard about it though. Lucky you.
  16. Nicely done!! Where was that?
  17. Wind picked up last night and has carried on today with driving rain. Pleasant though, out cutting up some willow this morning.
  18. Bit windy down here in Sussex. Not the curry either. Maybe Freya is on her way
  19. core blimey! Lucky you mate! You learn something new everyday!! Cheers.
  20. I find loop handle easier for edging, but yes bull handle for getting in and clearing. Use Husqvarna or Stihl, we have a few meaty ones, they all work pretty well. Have a basic battery strimmer now, pretty good for getting around areas where noise sensitive
  21. Very nice timber indeed! surprised to hear about elm! Round here nothing grows more than 18 feet before it gets DED!
