  1. Spring is a bit later up here in the NE of Scotland
  2. Is using weed killer of any sort on boggy ground a good idea, let alone in a Conservation Area? Just thinking back to having to do an around watercourses spraying module in order to keep SEPA happier about me spraying emerging Giant Hogweed alongside a river I managed.
  3. Ha, I’ve got one of those. Takes a bit of setting up and then you need to move it again as the reach is a little limited.
  4. Not sure about that... I left school at 16 and worked for two years in NZ before coming home and then immediately setting of and worked around Europe for a further 6 years. Stupidly, because I never asked, and didn’t know, I didn’t tell the SS what I was doing or I could’ve had my National Insurance contributions credited from my tax and pay from NZ and the EEC (as it was before the wank EU) Came home and got on the system but had to start all over. At 61 I’m behind on my contributions in spite of never not working.
  5. It’s a great job normally with lots of black humour. But I’ll admit to being deeply effected recently and having a quiet cry on occasion at the moment. Something my wife wouldn’t expect of me!
  6. Very sensible minimum Ts & Cs. I’d recommend BACS as the only form of payment so your card machine doesn’t need handled by your customers. I’m involved in home visits of a number of infected people, and even with the greatest care some of our health workers are catching this. What the media should be doing is filming a few people on their last few gasps to show how severe it can be. Were that to be shown few would be leaving their homes AT ALL!
  7. I’m actually on my last morning of 4 night shifts driving Paramedics and Advanced Nurse Practioners around the towns and country. Over the last four weeks we’ve come across some scarily sick people and a few folk that needed the paperwork and were pronounced dead. Some have died at home with lower tract infections, and not all have been over 70. We don’t carry any test kits so we’re assuming everyone is infectious and gowning, gloving and masking up before going in. You’ll be seeing the daily figures being bandied about by the press. These figures are about 5 days behind the actuality. They are also just the figures from the hospitals. This is for two reasons, because those we see that have died in the community often have underlying conditions and it’s the Covid that’s been the final straw that’s broken the camels back, and secondly because we neither have the resources, the time or the test kit to definitely state the cause of death. The triaging merely mentions either that the patient is a suspected Covid or the household was/is on isolation. There’s a heck of a lot more people infected than is generally realised by the public. After each home visit it takes me about 20 minutes to disinfect all the diagnostic kit, the bags, drug boxes and the car surfaces we touch with gloves. I cannot emphasise enough the benefits of the lockdown and the need to ensure hand washing and social distancing. A number of our SNHS staff are sick and this morning even I’ve developed a cracking sore throat. They now reckon even the 2 metres isn’t a safe distance from someone coughing or sneezing and that any infectious bodily fluids might survive for 17 days on a viable surface. Take great care out there and be ultra cautious while shopping. Also be very aware of what you touch while out and about[emoji1303]

  10. I used to run CJ5s and 7s before the exemption was on the go for them. Brilliant towing machines and wish I’d kept them[emoji1303]
  11. ? just seen that one of my bikes also needed a ticket too, so well pleased.
  12. That’s great, as I had two cars and a motorcycle to do in April and May. Not often you get to save well over £100 in MOT fees. Although the Road Tax is still a rip off considering the limited use we’re getting from our vehicles at present. It would have been a nice touch to have scrapped that tax in the interim too.

    Covid-19

The point I was trying to make was that when they reported 4 deaths it was actually closer to 25. The news we hear is old news. BTW I’m 50 miles north of Aberdeen

    Covid-19

To add to my comment above: when it was reported that Scotland had 6 deaths a few weeks ago related to C -19 I was aware of 4 in our hospital. I thought it strange that most had occurred in the NE of Scotland, until, it was pointed out to me that it takes 5 days to a week before the figures are released. Take care people[emoji1303]

    Covid-19

If you’d seen the few I’ve already seen coming into our A&E you probably wouldn’t be quite so cool about it. We’ve just relocated our Covid 19 hub outwith of the hospital in an effort to keep the place ‘Clean’. I’ve been moved to the Covid hub and like most who’ve been moved there are shitting ourselves. Please take this very seriously. If you’re affected badly it’s not a good way to go..
  16. If the Government is hinting at paying 2/3rds of a wage to those who are locked down at home, it’s hardly an incentive to go and stack supermarket shelves or freeze your knackers off for a minimum wage in a field. The other problem is the debt that’ll need to be settled in a couple of years.
  17. Without going into detail I can assure you this ain’t a nasty version of flu. I’ve seen people coming in overnight in a bad way and dead by the following morning. Please take this very seriously, and don’t be the unnecessary cause of either taking up a bed or infecting others. Remember too that you’re infectious prior to being symptomatic.[emoji15]
  18. Double it nowadays, and that’s for a part time job.
  19. As per the the title, I noticed a puddle of hydraulic oil below one of the motors today. Moved the mower to do some maintenance on a vehicle and noticed it pissed out quite a lot just moving it 10 yards. Do these things have replaceable seals or is it new motor time? Machine was bought quite secondhand about 6 years ago, and was a fair age by then. Hydrostatic drive, 3 gang mower. Cheers!
  20. Jesus! That will infuriate farmers, is lot and boaties.
