  1. [emoji23]Yes, let’s ignore two votes over leaving the Union and for leaving the EU. Your hard on for Nicola and her dictatorship shows a distinct lack of respect for democracy. Like Andy, I would not be adverse to an independent Scotland were the SNP able to provide a credible manifesto to show how it would work. The SNP have so far been shown to be rather incompetent at running Scotland during their tenure, so the bigger issue of running an independent country looks to be a wish too far to be a credible aspiration. First govern well, and then provide the plan that proves its workable. Emotion and incompetence doesn’t do it for me I’m afraid.
  2. He’s very welcome to kidnap her and remove her to England[emoji1303]
  3. I wonder what you’re on when you’re feeling down[emoji23]
  4. If it’s not electrical, I had similar with an old 044 many years ago. Crank seal was on the way out which I think led to it either sucking in air into the crankcase, or blowing some of the mix out when warm. This I believe led to the odd rise in revs and drop in revs.
  5. Cheers, bought 2 lots to renew some ageing hose on a cherry picker. Might just buy more if it arrives[emoji1303]
  6. Try spending a few years at Rannoch school in the early seventies. [emoji3]
  7. I’m not sure that Sturgeon is a better prospect than Corbyn frankly. There’s a sense of over self worth and of a dictator about her.
  8. . [emoji1303] Or where Scotland earlier voted on remaining as part of the U.K. and then wants dispensation over remaining as an EU member. This when the U.K. (as a whole) decided it was a crap idea. [emoji848]
  9. Totally agree, but as she carries a large proportion of the vote she is endangering Scotland of distancing itself from those it most relies on. I’m sure many in England think because we live in Scotland that we all want to become an insular and independent country. This because of the public awareness of the SNPs very public shouting matches by their representatives in Westminster. There’s many of us that are actually more horrified of an Independent Scotland (under SNP Governance) than any fear of leaving the EU.
  10. SCOTLAND? Although Scotland is governmentally partly devolved from Westminster, there are many mutual dependencies between the four parts of the U.K. Scotland generates higher renewable output, some of which is used in England. England is a major ‘export’ for Scotland. Taxes are largely shared. The pound is shared. So, as well as doing ongoing untold damage to our relationship with the relationship with the U.K. Government, what right does Sturgeon have in assuming that only Scottish people should have a say in becoming independent, and that she should be allowed another chance a mere 5 years from the previous unsuccessful attempt?
  11. It’s a matter of getting the cutting edge being higher than the relief. Once you’ve mastered that on a grinding wheel you have a usable bit until it’s too short to use. Ignoring the depth control gauge on a chainsaw chain look at the side on profile of a chain and you can see the cutting edge is proud of the relief. It’s the same with a drill bit. A badly sharpened drill bit often doesn’t have the cutting edge above the other material so the bit heats the work rather than making the desired hole. Another fault is doing too much grinding and producing too much heat. Then the bit loses its temper and it’s knackered. Small grinds with a finishing twist to ensure the cutting edge is proudest[emoji1303] I have a couple of mates that bring boxes of drills for me to sharpen on a regular basis.[emoji3]
  12. I remember dropping a large oak that got some shakes in the main trunk. A bit of black powder and a fuse and bingo. Absolutely effortless [emoji3]
  13. Strangely enough I test drove two smaller V6 engined ones three days ago. One was an 05, the other on a 61 plate. Both went well with the mere 3 litre engine but the newer one had very odd and remote feeling steering. The older one had a dodgy rear wheel bearing or it’s back axle was on the way out, and because I wanted something that didn’t need a fix walked away.
  14. Yes, just checked. 150kg[emoji15]
  15. You’re probably right. It was a while ago that I looked it up. But I do know that with a weight of an E class on the trailer it needed more than the permitted nose weight to tow without a weave
  16. That’s exactly what I did. More by luck than anything else. Looking in the rear view mirror with the Wife screaming and trying to hit the brakes as the trailer got centrally behind us.[emoji3] I’m really surprised the tyres managed to stay on the rims on the trailer as the back of the Defender was being lifted off the road in sympathy to the trailer movement.
  17. Putting the E Class over the trailer wheels and leaving little weight over the hitch meant the Defender once got a serious death weave, the wife screaming, and the three lanes pulling back. It really needed some weight over the hitch to be stable. It was the longer Ifor Williams trailer so probably around a 16’ bed plus A frame leading to the hitch. It would pull 60 mph on the motorway, but on an uphill start it didn’t have much go. I wouldn’t do it again!
  18. We went down to Poole and over to Jersey to collect an E class Mercedes estate on an Ifor Williams trailer. With the sides and front of the trailer off it, it weighed 980kg. If I remember correctly the car came in at about 1850kg. The problem was the nose weight. Used a defender too, but an older 300 TDI, and it was from the north of Scotland. It pulled ok too, as long as the hills weren’t too steep. We actually got followed by a Traffic Police car for ten miles along the motorway. I was sure we were going to get stopped and I was going to have to show I’d worked it all out. It felt like taking a test. Unfortunately I’d had to move the car forward over towards the front twice to stop the weave, so my nose weight probably would have exceeded the allowable 500 kg. It was a long trip, but we didn’t get stopped. I agreed to buy the car before realising they’d changed the rules over being able to temporarily drive the car in the U.K. on Jersey plates. So although I had gotten the car immediately MOTed and paid the 20% duty and had insurance I technically couldn’t drive it with ‘foreign’ plates. Just as well anyway as I’d declared the original Jersey registration number and there were two VOSA vans APNRing passing cars. I’m sure plod during his follow had checked me out fully too.
  19. Definitely bleed out the system and if it’s as cold where you are as here check the antifreeze strength
  20. Thanks.
  21. Great looking dog. Up until three weeks ago I’ve always had 2 or more dogs as picking up/ beating dogs. Unfortunately I lost an old girl recently so am just down to one who is her daughter. She is perhaps the most useless dog I’ve ever owned, as she’s too timid to work (and not keen on guns) but a great and faithful companion nonetheless. I used to work Golden Retrievers, a somewhat unusual breed for serious work in the Glen’s of Scotland. Prior to that I worked collie cross retrievers. Brilliantly clever dogs. I could even work them properly with long nets in total darkness. They surprised many a keeper too and if I wasn’t working on shoot days for my estate I was always asked to help on neighbouring estates. Good as deer dogs too (for those heart shot deer in thick young plantations) as they’d call/ bark when they found the dropped deer. My advice is don’t over exercise when young. Also don’t start the dog on game too young. Sometimes you will find your dog will misunderstand you and do something different to what you’re trying to instil or teach. Sometimes that can be useful in a different situation. It takes a keen eye to recognise that and to be able to re-utilise that trait. A dogs always pleased to see you even when you’re late home. More so than an ex wife![emoji3]
  22. I thought there was somewhere to list stuff on here rather than sticking stuff on Ebay, but can’t find anywhere. Before I do something wrong it ok to offer stuff on here?
  23. If you still have the broken bits. The undersides will be as new bar some discolouration. Buy a tin of P40 fibreglass repair paste. Available from most motor factors/Halfords or B&Q. Reassemble the broken pieces upside down and prop them up so they are in place. Mix up an appropriate amount of the fibreglass and hardener. Apply to rear of assembled roof tile. After 10 minutes flip over and apply a smaller amount between cracks to ensure water/frost doesn’t get in. Refit to roof and chuck some moss over it. Cost approx £15 + time. Job done.
