  1. Concentrate on the arb and forestry first and get some practical experience as well. Brexit may well affect where you can work anyway. If you learn a language now it will probably be the wrong one for you in two or three years time. Pick up the basics easily enough but the technical terms are the hard part. Japan is a fascinating country to visit but I found the people very polite but totally ignored any requests for information etc. Also English not widely spoken or understood. Plus still a male dominated society! Good luck with it all and I hope you live your dreams.
  2. B) MS 661 C-M Only a rough guess of course, think that I'll enter two more times with the other saws just in case.
  3. NFU do insurance for our farm buildings some of which are just pole barns with corrugated sheeting.
  4. Mine is an 09 rising 150k lots of dings and dents but hardly any rust. Drive shaft oil seal only repair needed - so just your luck by the sound of things. Will probably go bang tomorrow! LOL
  5. Main thing is to make sure any PPE you use is comfortable, suitable for use and you use it! Also no gloves or other PPE will offer full protection. Most important thing is training in safe use and operation of a chainsaw, they are potentially lethal and even pros have been seriously injured or even been killed by them, recent post on here about a climber killed working with a chainsaw. Don't assume 'just cutting a bit of firewood' makes it any safer, saw chain at full power is going at over 17 metres per second. Presume you have other PPE as well? Cringe when I see people using saws in trainers, jeans and no face/eye protection. My advice is go and have a look at a choice as like the other guys have said some gloves are awful on grip I had some Oregon's that looked similar - grip was awful, kicking around in the garage somewhere now. 6. Have you checked vent hole in oil cap is not clogged? If that's OK and oil passages are definitely clear then there is a fault so return it to Screwfix. Had an air leak develop on one of the Titan petrol hedge cutters replaced no problem or hassle. Don't forget it's a 24 month warranty.
  7. For info now working fine on Android which it wasn't until tried it today
  8. Can you imagine the numbers of log goblins would grow exponentially ☺ Fighting in the woods and fields over the last fallen twig - its all free wood guv honest! We'll probably end up with an approved dry firewood sellers registered scheme
  9. Amazing what you can do with photoshop looks as if she's standing in 'real' sunlight or maybe the photographer had a superb lighting setup. Completely blocking the light? Er not quite I think.
  10. 2 for me had to take both power units off as working in our wood next to well used bridleway while I went and got bowsaw which kept jamming like a bastard in the lovely green sappy wood sweating like the proverbial by the time I got one free.
  11. Bought two for my 450e which I got fed up with buying expensive chains for as it seems to have a mind of its own to throw chains off - tool less adjuster - pita. They have been excellent, slightly aggressive but have stayed sharp really well cutting dead dry elm and norway without excessive stretching.. Like others have said though dispatch and delivery are very slow. Tried the cheaper ones Rob D sells but not as good however his service is excellent, really prompt dispatch and delivery plus any stock issues and you get a phone call to sort it out so he gets my business for bars and branded chains.
  12. As above get a reputable consultant in but also the house looks to be on a very sloping site so problems may be due to original foundations and may be old from original settlement the property has also been there a long time and the oaks are well established. That said those trees are very close, oak can cause damage out to 30m but it is a very complex issue, new foundations for example at that distance would probably need engineered foundations and would be over 2.5m deep. Also don't forget insurance, companies will usually ask if any trees close to property.
  13. Tend to agree with field maple but Norway maple possibly? tree to the right looks like field maple but still difficult to see.
  14. Had a 251 for a few years now still don't feel comfortable with it doesn't seem balanced keep using my 450e which the 251 was supposed to replace. Husky is a lovely balanced saw and a joy to use except for the toolless adjuster - pita. But still pick husky up first. Both currently on 15".
  15. Nice to see professionals at work
  16. We had a boundary issue and land registry sent OS guy out with state of the art GPS etc to map everything - expensive? Not a penny they do this all the time accuracy was to millimetres. Our boundary was spot on but roadside pavement about 4 metres away was nearly a metre out. I wouldn't be happy with council deciding (unless it went my way) as they are the other liable party - bit like Pep reffing a Utd/City game.

  18. Best and easiest first step is to get a definitive plan from land registry for his property if he hasn't already got one with his deeds. Very cheap, quick and straightforward will settle responsibility issues.
  19. Hi Has anyone a copy of parts manual for the 026 please - looking to resurrect my saw been sitting in workshop as backup. Thanks
  20. AFAIK CE marking is only applicable if the item is 'manufactured for financial reward' and even then I think there is a ten year limit. How the insurance companies would view such a non CE saw only they can answer as they underwrite the risks they specify. If people check saws are operating correctly before use risks are obviously reduced. It did make me think about all the 'modded' saws out there - that could be a can of worms! Only problem I've had with a chain brake was one where the brake band snapped on second use - didn't realise until restarted saw and chain ran when it shouldn't have. Was advised by manufacturer (not dealer) it was 'a consumable part' and they weren't interested, saw was a Victus from the Efco stable. Had bought it for snedding, fortunately it was cheap and it now gathers dust in the workshop as I was so pissed off with Efco's attitude. Never had a band snap on any of the Stihls or Husky.
  21. Just had a quick look at the website - part time and occasional use products only but why would you pay £575 for a 450 when you can buy it for £424 online even if you get a combi can and 2 year warranty?
  22. Android app keeps saying network error can't login
  23. Works okay for me in Today's Posts. Moto G5 on Android 7.0
  24. First of all thanks for your hard work in providing the forums and my admiration in view of all the hard work to provide this massive upgrade . Like the post format for me easier to read, Finding my way around but got frustrated trying to get to forums - didn't realise at first that I could click on the word to get there - was using drop down arrow only at first. Finding as others have commented on lots of scrolling seems to be needed. Also flashing ads a real distraction for me - all I've done is zoom in so I don't see them at all - not what you and your advertisers want! Hope the feedback is useful for you.
  25. On the subject of compromising situations twice blocked in completely by vehicles parked right up to gate both times they were enjoying horizontal refreshment and no I did not wait until they had finished! Sent from my AT10LE-A using Arbtalk mobile app
