  1. Anywhere there is exposed steel will rust. Watch out for ground splash back. [emoji106]
  2. Just get the right bits. Mis matched sprockets are like worn sprockets. Bad for bars and chains.
  3. Stihl Motomix uses stihl ultra. That’s what I use in all my kit. [emoji106]
  4. Get an 881[emoji6][emoji106] With .404 sprocket,skip chain or hyper skip. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  5. Wrong gauge though. Very bad for the chain, bar and sprocket.
  6. That’s one aspect. Of many. Look at my first post. As for species selection, etc That reflects the end user/market demands. Change the market, change the forests. If we could see the impact our work has on the future, long after we are gone. Responsibility is a heavy weight to bear. That’s why it’s easier to ignore and carry on regardless.
  7. Hey Tulin, There is a massive difference in exhaust fumes. I run all my kit on motomix. Have done for several years now. Your English is fine mate. [emoji106]
  8. What’s wrong with forestry.... It’s madness. It’s about economic benefit for the few not the many. Most forests in the uk are privately owned. Lots of big estates. It’s a tax loophole for inheritance. You can pass on £millions without paying any tax. 🤷🏽‍♂️
  9. Ok let’s start at the end user. I get told regularly after explaining the provenance, that no one gives a shit it’s all about price. This J is the crux of the issue. It’s NOT about money. It’s a lack of knowledge and understanding. IF..... We educated all children on the importance of the natural world. IF... We valued the natural world above our own greed. We need a real change in thinking. We need a change in people’s motivations... What happened to ideaology? We are the ones who can shape the future of our industry. Genuinely, I believe this is achievable. And you’ll be a part of it J. [emoji106]
  10. There is a difference in gauge. Standard 3/8 is 0.63 Lo pro 3/8 is 0.50 Yes you will need different drive sprockets! As for kerf, I believe 3/8 lopro is about 6-7mm kerf whereas standard 3/8 is about 9-10mm kerf. [emoji106]
  11. What price do you put on your own health? [emoji106]
  12. That’s a very long answer. In brief, it’s greed. But I appreciate the effort and thought in your previous posts, So let me get back to you this evening.[emoji106] (Got some high end broadleaf to move today)[emoji6][emoji108]
  13. So, We should just **** the whole lot off. Plant euc and concrete the rest? J I’m so disappointed you see it this way. Or are you messing with me? Commercial forestry in the uk is a massive problem. Short sightedness is not the way forward. What do actually think should be done?
  14. Phone round your local tree surgeons and foresters [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  15. **** that. Would drive me nuts! Get in to arb darling. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  16. Yeah. Buy 4 chains. Blunt them. Take em back to your dealer who will sharpen them for peanuts. I’m a bit ocd about sharpening chains, But if I’m honest I hate sharpening tiny chains. Fiddly...... [emoji106]
  17. Yes! This. Get a silky saw. Nothing else like one. [emoji106]
  18. What’s wrong with planting native species? It’s not all about the money!!!!!!!! What about, what’s good for nature??? Get sick to the back teeth of new miracle fast growing hybrids planted in sterile monoculture. It’s the short sighted money grabbing mentality which has been the downfall of British forestry, eco diversity and British manufacturing. 🤷🏽‍♂️
  19. Those prices fro containers are fantastic. It’s 3k fir a decent container up here. [emoji106]
  20. BSA meteor, 30 odd years ago. My mates dad rebuilt a bsa Ariel. That’s a machine. [emoji106]
  21. No. That’s the difference between fresh sawn and kiln dried to 8-10%. Yes, but it’s often misunderstood. In perfect conditions... It’s one inch a year measured from the centre to the outside! Ie 4” oak two years 2” oak one year The further away from perfect you are, the slower it is to dry. [emoji106]
  22. It’ll double or triple the price of the slabs. Also it means the 98% of woodworkers who don’t want to wait years, can buy their kiln dried timber from me. I’d prefer to have a kiln with mains supply. [emoji106]
  23. I’m building my shed next week[emoji106]
