  1. Got Monday to Wednesday free next week, and the whole of following week 25th-29th free.
  2. That's a mine field in French. The smallest mispronunciation can cause hilarity... My mum went into a large homes store and asked the cashier "Je voudrais cinq matelo svp" The cashier and the queue behind burst into laughter. Matela = mattress Matelo = sailor [emoji23][emoji3][emoji106]
  3. What's in the van? Answers on the back of a post card as usual. [emoji848]
  4. Took me years to understand what this means: "Do less, achieve more" [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  5. Ever worked in France? Most are still drunk from the night before when they crack open the first wine bottle at 7am (Then drive to work) Drink all day at work then go home to get really pissed. Britain is tea total in comparison. [emoji51]
  6. 15 years ago in Brighton, a good friend asked a traffic warden the same question. (Outside a gym where the pavement is 20 feet wide and always 4-6 cars parked on it) The reply was: as long as you are not blocking the pavement i.e. 1meter clear pathway. But that was a traffic warden.
  7. Should be the same as 051 and 076 I've swapped carbs round before. The 051,075 and 076 are the same saw with each one changed a little.
  8. Often I get a day or two "trial" with a new company. Then they call back the following week/month with a block. Or companies I've worked for in the past (on Arbtalk) call up. And applying for one/two day jobs on Arbtalk gets you contacts, who then call you when they need it. Oddly enough, I locked myself out my van the other day. Guy in the car park next to me (who lent me a screwdriver) turns out to be a tree surgeon, who started with the guy I'm working with. He knows who I am from him and said he'd like me for a week sometime. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  9. After trimming a 90 meter hawthorn hedge, I'm thinking of charging double price for thorn jobs...
  10. I've only ever advertised on Arbtalk. I'm in work[emoji106] I know one day though I'm going to meet Steve Bullman and I'm going to get him very, very drunk. [emoji12] [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  11. What a man does in his own underpants, is his own business. Providing you're not stood outside a school etc. I almost miss the naive vitriol. Almost. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
  12. Can we start on the French? [emoji12]
  13. Been cutting with a saw professionally for 9 years before I did my 30/31. I was bricking it the day of the assessment too. Look forward to reading more about your exploits hairychest. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  14. Even if it says car derived van on the v5? London emissions zone classify's it as a car. [emoji848]
  15. Laughed so hard I nearly choked [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
  16. Woohoo!!! You passed! [emoji106][emoji106][emoji3]
  17. Finest gypsy tart! [emoji3][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  18. A Kentish delicacy... [emoji3][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  19. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji106]
  20. Paul's got far more style and panach, as well as technical ability. He does some amazing photography too. [emoji3][emoji3][emoji3][emoji106]
  21. Go for the b&b if you can. Sleep and a hot bath are helpful. To put it bluntly, The other guys on my cs30/31 course were young, and had never used a saw before. They passed because they went slow and showed the examiner what they had learnt on the course. We all passed. Panic won't help. Read and re read everything. Your actual assessment only lasts a couple of hours. They mainly test on practical skills. But will ask a few questions on the basics of puwer afag h&s. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  22. Lunch time with guys from Brixton on site. Found this with the saw. (With much swearing)[emoji51] Finally after a long day, drove back to the beach. Got changed and locked my keys in the back of the van. DOOOHHH!!!!! As luck would have it... Turns out the guy parked next to me is a tree surgeon [emoji3] He's worked with the same guy I'm working for.[emoji3] Has the right screwdriver to break into my van[emoji106][emoji106][emoji106] So a big thank you to Jo.
