  1. The most productive land for food is allotments is it not? Multi layering of crops and micro management. Anyone else read "John Seymour"? [emoji848][emoji12]
  2. It's overall weight which is starting to get me. I used a stihl 440 for many years, but my go to saw is a 261 now. It's so much lighter, will pull 18" all day. But yeah, the 461 comes out if the wood needs it.
  3. Sodium and potassium Chlorate or nitrate will kill most things. Just keep it away from any sort of fire. It's explosive. [emoji51]
  4. Deathcap is another that springs to mind. I'd wash your hands after touching. [emoji51]
  5. Very valid points stihlmad and yourname. I think our definition of "safe" may differ. Whatever stubby says bacon is a crap weed killer. [emoji12]
  6. So has anyone got a video of a 462 vs a 461? [emoji848]
  7. Hmmm risk of cancer or an hours weeding? [emoji51]
  8. Glyphosate has just been recognised as carcinogenic. Big court case just concluded.
  9. Machinery is a game changer. Loaders, tractors, hi-abs,tracked chippers, winches on chippers. Especially as you get older. [emoji57][emoji106]
  10. You can have this bar and chain for a tenner and postage? Chains got half life left, bars good. I'll never need it again.
  11. Ported, jungle muffler, 100cc big bore 660 36" 3/8
  12. This is a .325 14" for a 009
  13. I'm no expert, but you get destroying angel and a few other deadly fungus that look like what you photographed. They grow on wood chip. [emoji51]
  14. Painfully slow?!!!! The only 660 that out cuts my stock 661 is a ported 100cc big bore. Got that on video too. I'll post it in a bit. My point is a longer bar is usually going to save time, and the extra few inches is negligible in terms of torque loss.
  15. If someone can tell me how to upload a video? Says I'm limited to 7mb?
  16. Really Joe? What's with the short bar obsession? The loss of torque for an extra 5" of bar is minuscule. The added bonus is when your tree is over 20" (as in the OP) you don't waste time double cutting. If your 261 can't pull 18" buried, I'd take it for a service. Tree surgery disco biscuits or forestry. I posted a video of a spud ported 560 25" bar .325 vs a 461 stock 25" 3/8. About the same on a 20" log.
  17. Imagine driving over a brick in that thing! Bucking Bronco! [emoji51]
  18. A range of axes is important. For easy clean sweet chestnut, ash, hornbeam a decent medium felling axe 1-2kg 36" ish handle is enough. For straight oak I'll get out a stihl maul 3kg. For knotty, forky awkward stuff I use the medium felling axe again with a large mallet( big log on a stick). [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106] Then you'll need at least several dozen different axes to shape and fashion the rest of the tree. [emoji3]
  19. De rail! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
