  1. Isn’t one of the features of the new chain that it comes out of the box more like a chain that’s been sharpened with a round file ? I’m sure that point was in the promo video but it was so dull I can’t be bothered to watch it again I know what you mean though, for general use I’m buying rotatech atm. I know all the haters comments out there but ive never had one snap or fail. They do perform much better after the first sharpen. Much smoother after a tickle up with the file. I can’t knock them for value. Sure oregon etc are better chains but not proportional to the extra cost. I still buy Oregon etc for more specialist chains like skip chains and milling chains. Usually from Rob D or honey bros I may well get one to see how it fairs up as you say for holding an edge etc. The less I have to sharpen my saws the better.
  2. The echo. Such a good cutting little saw. Get the carving style bar and it’s lovely for reductions and thinning as etc. You won’t use a silky again. I’ve got plenty of stihl kit but I wouldn’t replace my echo with a 150. Not had any durability issues with mine.
  3. The husky axe lives in my van all the time. Love it. Splits well and very well made. Perfect for on site.
  4. Echo 2511 with the pointy carving bar and stihl chain. ms200t for bigger stuff. No need for a silky.

    Jonsered on amazon

Blimey that’s going back a while ... that shop is now a house.
  6. Some time ago I muttered about selling my old S11a lightweight, fitted with a rover V8. Well I'm eventually getting around to it, a couple of you expressed some interest a few months back so I thought I would pop it back in the forum before auto trader etc. I have lots of pictures and details so if you require further info please just send me a message and I will answer as best I can. Cheers.
  7. Ok , you’re not a million miles from me. I’m based in Haslemere, Surrey and sometimes get work in between our locations. Do you want to pm me with your contact details and if I need help over that way I can sound you out in the future and see if you are free ?
  8. Hi Shaun. You’re not too old if you’re fit and keen. It won’t be an easy transition in terms of keeping cash flow coming in as you change but I’m sure you will have planned for this. Where abouts In Hampshire are you ?
  9. Cheers Steve. I will put the quote over to the customer for other works tonight. Can you pm me with an approx cost for the picus Cheers.
  10. Steve I’m going to recommend a customer has a large beech tree surveyed In the event they want it tested would you cover chiddingfold. Surrey / West Sussex border ? Cheers Joe
  11. Any good recommendations for a company to fabricate high sides /barn doors / roof onto an existing tipper. Looking in the Surrey / West Sussex /Hants areas. Boulter tippers in Basingstoke look pretty good. Anyone used them ? Thanks in advance.
  12. I've only used granberg so I can't compare but I would say the ratchet system for adjustment looks very handy on the panther. Rob D will be able to advise you how they compare If the build quality is good they certainly look decent.
  13. Gents if any of you are interested in a large trailer I'm about to sell an Ifor 12x6 caged sided tipper. Fantastic condition but I have to say maybe a bit large for log deliveries but you guys know your rounds. Anyway if anyone is interested let me know and I will send further details. Cheers
  14. Old picture from when it was bought approx 3 years ago. Im dropping at the the garage tomorrow to get Mot'd and ready for sale. Weather is supposed to be a lot better tomorrow so will try to get more pics if its still light.
  15. Haslemere on the Surrey / West Sussex border. Bit of a trek I'm afraid.
  16. Can take some over the next day or two.
  17. Which part of Sussex ? Cheers
  18. Slightly off topic as not land rover work related but I'm about to sell my 1968 11a lightweight. Has a 3.5 litre v8 fitted. If anyone is interested pm me on here for more details. Cheers.
  19. Anyone else have a 2511 that seeps a little fuel from what I assume is a breather. Only occurs on full / nearly full tank so assume it's pressure related.
  20. Going to have a look at a seemingly tidy single wheel transit. Nice set up with tool looker etc. Decent hp and rwd. Can't seem to find and chunky tyres with a high load rating at the mo so maybe just mud /snow are best option available.
  21. That's incorrect. It's done on all the plated weights set for the vehicle. Mam/train weight/individual actual weights etc. Etc. Exceeding a manufacturers load rating on a tyre is an offence but would not be prosecuted under excess weight offences. It would constitute unsuitable use / dangerous condition under RTA and con and use regs.
  22. Have to say I think front wheel drive is the only real issue with them. I think that's where the towing and clutch issues would stem. What don't the lads like about them. ? Take
  23. Thanks for feed back. Think I want to stick the the 3.5t vans. Preferably rear wheel drive. The ciitroen certainly looks to have a decent cab etc. I think they also do a rear wheel drive version ?
  24. No. It's not for off road. I already have 4x4 vehicles. Ive always been of the train of thought that the larger foot print of the twin wheels helped with traction in circumstances such as pulling a chipper onto grass etc. As already stated not considering it for specific off road use, quite like the look of sprinters but didn't want to buy something that is useless on grass / tracks etc. Sprinters come in 4x4 so I assume there will be all terrains available for it which would help Any one got a sprinter / crafter etc and found them or a problem or have they been good purchases ? Ta
  25. Heavy for a six inch chipper.
