  1. Any good recommendations for a company to fabricate high sides /barn doors / roof onto an existing tipper. Looking in the Surrey / West Sussex /Hants areas. Boulter tippers in Basingstoke look pretty good. Anyone used them ? Thanks in advance.
  2. I've only used granberg so I can't compare but I would say the ratchet system for adjustment looks very handy on the panther. Rob D will be able to advise you how they compare If the build quality is good they certainly look decent.
  3. Gents if any of you are interested in a large trailer I'm about to sell an Ifor 12x6 caged sided tipper. Fantastic condition but I have to say maybe a bit large for log deliveries but you guys know your rounds. Anyway if anyone is interested let me know and I will send further details. Cheers
  4. Old picture from when it was bought approx 3 years ago. Im dropping at the the garage tomorrow to get Mot'd and ready for sale. Weather is supposed to be a lot better tomorrow so will try to get more pics if its still light.
  5. Haslemere on the Surrey / West Sussex border. Bit of a trek I'm afraid.
  6. Can take some over the next day or two.
  7. Which part of Sussex ? Cheers
  8. Slightly off topic as not land rover work related but I'm about to sell my 1968 11a lightweight. Has a 3.5 litre v8 fitted. If anyone is interested pm me on here for more details. Cheers.
  9. Anyone else have a 2511 that seeps a little fuel from what I assume is a breather. Only occurs on full / nearly full tank so assume it's pressure related.
  10. Going to have a look at a seemingly tidy single wheel transit. Nice set up with tool looker etc. Decent hp and rwd. Can't seem to find and chunky tyres with a high load rating at the mo so maybe just mud /snow are best option available.
  11. That's incorrect. It's done on all the plated weights set for the vehicle. Mam/train weight/individual actual weights etc. Etc. Exceeding a manufacturers load rating on a tyre is an offence but would not be prosecuted under excess weight offences. It would constitute unsuitable use / dangerous condition under RTA and con and use regs.
  12. Have to say I think front wheel drive is the only real issue with them. I think that's where the towing and clutch issues would stem. What don't the lads like about them. ? Take
  13. Thanks for feed back. Think I want to stick the the 3.5t vans. Preferably rear wheel drive. The ciitroen certainly looks to have a decent cab etc. I think they also do a rear wheel drive version ?
  14. No. It's not for off road. I already have 4x4 vehicles. Ive always been of the train of thought that the larger foot print of the twin wheels helped with traction in circumstances such as pulling a chipper onto grass etc. As already stated not considering it for specific off road use, quite like the look of sprinters but didn't want to buy something that is useless on grass / tracks etc. Sprinters come in 4x4 so I assume there will be all terrains available for it which would help Any one got a sprinter / crafter etc and found them or a problem or have they been good purchases ? Ta
  15. I was thinking a sprinter or similar with all terrains fitted might be reasonable. Not worried about lower towing weights etc as other vehicles can do this job.
  16. Looking at some vans at the moment. Always considered those with twin rear wheels get much better traction on grass etc. Not looking for an off road specific vehicle as already have that but just wanted other views on vans such as sprinters / crafters etc in comparison to the good old transit and iveco. Do they spin up as soon as they look at a patch of grass or are people getting on ok with them ?? Cheers
  17. I bought the large husky splitting axe. Can't fault it. Cheap. Splits very well. Handle is super tough and the back of the head is hardened for use on felling wedges. Gets more use than all my other expensive (comparatively) fancy traditional axes.
  18. Cheers for the pick. Can't beat a bit of club hammer repairs and modifications. Could be worth a go.
  19. Nice little ag spec one popped up on eBay at the mo. Only a 3 litre engine though. Still looks at decent truck mind.
  20. No problem. I'm sure that trailer doesn't hold as much as the long wheelbase mog so I think I'll hold fire on making 3 unnecessary trips to tip. Quite a few people using that as a fencing contractor set up around this way. Seems good for it. Hope it works for your arb stuff too.
  21. I'm not criticising your set up for fencing or it's efficient and productivity for that role. I'm saying it's not practical for arb work that's all. What will you do with your chip. Surely a tracked chipper will fill the trailer so you will have an extra journey tipping before re loading the chipper or you have to leave your chip on site or take another tipper of some description with you ?
  22. I'm not looking at the payload situation. It's the logistics and feasibility of what your vehicle combo can achieve. A tipper with tool locker and your trailer will do your fencing jobs and the tipper with a decent chipper will do your arb work. Tree work with the current set up will be very limited and restrictive.
  23. It's a nice van and trailer but really not suitable for profitable Arb work. I think you will end up frustrated with it quite quickly. You may need to strongly consider changing the van if you want to pursue this idea with conviction. You don't want or need to be taking all those non Arb tools to tree work. Dead space and weight. Could you swap it for a tipper van with decent tool locker. ?
  24. No rush. If you get chance would be appreciated. Cheers.
