Anyone got experience with this bit of kit ? Feedback good and bad Any pictures or videos of it in use would be good. In particular how it handles larger timber near its maximum limits Thanks in advance
  2. 562 is a good saw. Pleased with mine 20 inch bar on hardwoods is about its max. Cant go wrong with it really.

    Well done Echo!

They aren’t making them currently. Don’t know why My local dealer ( honey bros ) said they had quite a few back with issues before the supply stopped. Mainly ignition modules I believe. Not sure if it’s related to technical glitches or manufacturing issues.

    Well done Echo!

Be nice to see some new larger saws in the echo range. Something in the 70cc class would be good. The chap on the stand at the APF gave an inkling one might be on the way but he had no details on it at all. As the husky 572 isn’t available I may hold out a bit longer and see who releases what this year.

    362cm vs 562

I bought a 562xpg recently. I’m happy with it so far. For me it was either this or the echo 620sx. I got a better discount on the husky and it was in stock. It’s night and day compared to the stihl. Far more performance. Its not far off the performance of previous generation 70cc saws, for instance a 441
  6. I’m 100% with this one. I agree with all the points made. I’m paying 140/150 a day for groundsmen. But they have to be competent in other skills too as tree work isn’t the whole business. Competent climbers start at 150 pd. I pay fair rates and in return expect a fair days work. Always time for humour and banter but the jobs got to get done. Strike the balance and everyone’s happy.
  7. Hello Murdoch Im based in Haslemere and cover Woking area. If you would like me to pop over and take a look at the tree to advise you I'm happy to do so. Feel free to drop me a PM on here. Kind regards Joe
  8. I bought a 562 xp last week. Fantastic performance for a little 60cc saw. More like what you’d expect from previous 70 cc saws. The hot start procedure as per the manual is a bit of a faff compared to other saws but I’m sure I’ll get into the habit. Build quality is better than current stihl saws. I can’t comment on reliability after a week but I’m impressed so far with performance I have plenty of stihl saws mainly larger saws and trusty 200t. But for mid range 50 to 70cc saws I like the husky options at the moment. Epic chain speed and pick up.
  9. They are based at honey brothers. If they haven’t got what you want they will order it in for you I expect. I don’t think anyone else sells it in the uk.
  10. I’m looking for an occasional ground worker to fill some days when extra staff are required. Based Haslemere in Surrey. Please message for further details. Thanks.
  11. But the point I made was it’s not a false economy because there isn’t enough difference in the chain performance to warrant spending more on my ‘volume’ purchase chains. Never had a fault with them. They don’t make specialist chains so I still buy Oregon for those. ( skip and milling etc ) Yes Oregon is better quality but the cost v performance trade off isn’t there for general use. I didn’t say it needs sharpening before you use it. I said it’s smoother cutting after being filed the first time. More to do with the depth of cut as opposed to sharpness. But as you say. Each to their own.
  12. Cost is always a relevant factor It may not be the deciding factor but it’s got to be considered. It’s just business to consider it. On a single saw it’s less of a factor than on say 10 or more saws. It applies to whatever you buy if it performs well and it’s much cheaper it makes sense. Rob D - for sure I will try some. If it stays sharper longer then the cost starts to offset straight away. Less down time sharpening etc. It did look smoother in the cut straight out of the box which the rotatechs def aren’t. Grabby as you like until the first file but fine after that.
  13. Isn’t one of the features of the new chain that it comes out of the box more like a chain that’s been sharpened with a round file ? I’m sure that point was in the promo video but it was so dull I can’t be bothered to watch it again I know what you mean though, for general use I’m buying rotatech atm. I know all the haters comments out there but ive never had one snap or fail. They do perform much better after the first sharpen. Much smoother after a tickle up with the file. I can’t knock them for value. Sure oregon etc are better chains but not proportional to the extra cost. I still buy Oregon etc for more specialist chains like skip chains and milling chains. Usually from Rob D or honey bros I may well get one to see how it fairs up as you say for holding an edge etc. The less I have to sharpen my saws the better.
  14. The echo. Such a good cutting little saw. Get the carving style bar and it’s lovely for reductions and thinning as etc. You won’t use a silky again. I’ve got plenty of stihl kit but I wouldn’t replace my echo with a 150. Not had any durability issues with mine.
  15. The husky axe lives in my van all the time. Love it. Splits well and very well made. Perfect for on site.
  16. Echo 2511 with the pointy carving bar and stihl chain. ms200t for bigger stuff. No need for a silky.

    Jonsered on amazon

Blimey that’s going back a while ... that shop is now a house.
  18. Some time ago I muttered about selling my old S11a lightweight, fitted with a rover V8. Well I'm eventually getting around to it, a couple of you expressed some interest a few months back so I thought I would pop it back in the forum before auto trader etc. I have lots of pictures and details so if you require further info please just send me a message and I will answer as best I can. Cheers.
  19. Ok , you’re not a million miles from me. I’m based in Haslemere, Surrey and sometimes get work in between our locations. Do you want to pm me with your contact details and if I need help over that way I can sound you out in the future and see if you are free ?
  20. Hi Shaun. You’re not too old if you’re fit and keen. It won’t be an easy transition in terms of keeping cash flow coming in as you change but I’m sure you will have planned for this. Where abouts In Hampshire are you ?
  21. Cheers Steve. I will put the quote over to the customer for other works tonight. Can you pm me with an approx cost for the picus Cheers.
  22. Steve I’m going to recommend a customer has a large beech tree surveyed In the event they want it tested would you cover chiddingfold. Surrey / West Sussex border ? Cheers Joe
  23. Some very nice trees in that patch. Some milled timber from a large wellie up there is now put to good use in my garden.
  24. The cruiser would certainly be my pick. The plus side is if it’s not the vehicle you want they hold their money very well and sell on quickly. I rate them highly.
  25. Land cruiser Amazon v8. Brilliant wagon. Good diff lockers too. If your towing in that scenario they are a must. Also had a 3.2 shogun. That was a bomb proof car too. Towed well. Both are ultra reliable. Another consideration is an old Range Rover. I think L322 is the most reliable they made. Certainly way more so than a disco 4. These are all nice and comfortable and at that budget you don’t have to precious about them in the woods so ideal. If your going off road you might as well be comfy.
