  1. I slumber all hardwoods and just make sure to have 30 minutes to an hour hard fire in the morning with softwood. Never had an issue and Ive recently swept my liner after 12 months and it was clean as a whistle. Maybe a couple of pint glasses worth of soot. In fact we're heading out now for the afternoon and the kitchen Stove is banked right up with Oak and Beech and slumbered down. Will be cosy when we get home in a few hours.
  2. How do you get on with the Logosol drying Kiln? I really should buy one as well.
  3. Gave me a chuckle. Gave me a bloody double take to be honest 🤣🤣🤣
  4. Another euphemism for your nightly Gay Cruising?
  5. Well all righty then.
  6. What wood fired oven do you have? Ive got the Esse Ironheart and love it. Since I do all the cooking when Im home its not really an issue for the missus til Im away but she's more than happy to use it. We do have an induction Hob for when the Oven is not up to temp but its barely used.
  7. Thats my thinking as well. I'm not putting anything in that Im not prepared to lose. I dont go to the pubs much these days so whatever I used to piss up against the wall I'll happily drop into Crypto and piss it up the wall in a virtual environment.
  8. Im still dabbling and have been buying CRO on its nose dive to oblivion. I still think the best store of wealth is metals. I'll go back to buying Gold Coins I think.
  9. How on earth do you spend so much on Electricity? I'm also on Oil but only use that this time of year first thing in the morning then its over to logs. Our Old Farmhouse is 200 square meters of living space and we use £150 a month and it seems like the Dishwasher, Washing machine and Tumble Dryer are never off.
  10. Had your arse handed to you so you quickly change tack. 🤣🙄
  11. Even after he's measured the MC at 17%?
  12. Do you have an issue with the smoke filling the room?
  13. Will most likely warp. Nice and chunky, maybe 1/2” thick? Just a rectangle plate covering 70-90% of the grate area will be enough. Nothing fancy or expensive.
  14. Or steel plate. I don’t have an issue though.
  15. Don’t clean the ash out from underneath then. Let it fall through and build up til it can’t fall through anymore. Both my Stoves are multi-fuel and I can’t say I have an issue with the ash falling through even when fully cleaned out.
  16. I’ve found the exact opposite with oak. Pops open like a dream when wet and going like iron when dry. I’ve found this for both splitting for firewood and milling.
  17. Oak is a slow burner and not the best hardwood to burn on its own. You generally have to mix with softwood or Birch etc and even then not add it til you have a good bed of embers going. Oak is not the king of firewood, far from it. I burn it but it does not get priority. You’ll get a few tall tales here of folk stating they get their oak going with a flint and their bellybutton fluff but I think it’s BS. Norway has a very high percentage of Stove Burners per capita and even in central Oslo where I am tonight I can smell the sweet smell of burning Birch. It’s by far the wood of choice here and they import huge quantities of it. Skip the Oak next time, get a mix of hardwood including Ash, Birch and Beech. But til you’ve burned through what you have your best introducing it later rather than at kindling time. Oh, and save yourself some cash and forget the kiln dried gimmick.
  18. One step closer to Nuke-o-clock.
  19. Damn, he really hit a nerve with that one, huh? 🤣🤣
  20. Odd, you seem to be under the impression others care about yours.
  21. Pathetic response.
  22. Cut benefits to the point that working is the only viable option?
  23. Where are you in Sweden again? Ive a Swedish colleague asking.
  24. Ive got a Broseley evolution 26kw Boiler Stove, a 300 liter Joule Cyclone Thermal Store 2.0, Heat exchanger, Two UPS pumps, Controller and Pressure gauges etc. I bought the used system earlier this year and planned on installing it in the Dining Room as the main Central Heating for the House (16kw to water & 10kw to the room) with the 300 liter Thermal store kicking in in the morning to provide heat til the Stoves are lit but since we've had the original 1880 Sash & Case Windows replaced with new Modern equivalents I dont think we actually need it and will continue with the Kitchen & Living Room Stoves that seem to be doing a good job of heating the house and will use the oil boiler early in the mornings. The Thermal Store can obviously store water for the Central Heating but can also supply domestic hot water at mains pressure. Joule Cyclone Thermal Store 2.0 - Joule JOULEUK.CO.UK The Joule Cyclone Thermal Store 2.0 is the ideal solution for multi-energy applications. The hot water is produced through the freshwater module mounted Broseley Evolution 26 Boiler Woodburning Stove | World Of Iron | Durham WORLDOFIRON.CO.UK I paid £3000 and looking to get this back. Was a £13k install a few years ago and they only pulled it out when the RHI ended and they installed a Heat pump.
  25. Theres loads of different bars of soap in the supermarket shelves though? https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/search?query=soap My weapon of choice is the Wrights Traditional. The cheapest one in the link is the Tescos value at 15p a bar.
